Model: ES208GP
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have a need for a switch so I've purchased the ES208G to add to my existing Omada network. I run an Omada Software Controller v5.

I'm struggling to get the ES208G to show up for adopting into Omada.

I've connected the ES208G (in bedroom) to a port on an existing SG2008P switch (in basement).  I have logged into the web UI for the ES208G and have set the Inform URL to the IP address of my existing Omada software controller.

My understanding is the ES208G is compatible with software controller so I'm not sure what else I need to do.

Can anyone guide me on what I might have done incorrectly or have missed?

Thanks much!

The Switch was probably made after version 5 of the Omada controller came out, so the controller doesn't recognize that witch. But you can upgrade the controller to version 6.2 and the problem will be solved.

Hi  @DDDaniel

Thanks for reaching out to TP-Link Business Forums.

Did you check the Agile Switch Type on your controller?

Are there any VLANs or ACL rules that might block the communication between the switch and the controller?

Thanks for the response!

I don't see that configuration option in my Omada Controller. I am running v5.9 of the controller so perhaps that version doesn't support the switch?

I will have to check the ACL again when I get home and report back.

Appreciate your assistance! Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion but I can not easily upgrade the controller version since my hardware doesn't support the new MongoDB requirement on the CPU.

I think it will work, I run an Ubuntu server on really old hardware and it works fine.

Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS (GNU/Linux 5.15.0-179-generic x86_64)

Omada Controller v6.2.14.6 for Linux (X64)

db version v4.4.30
Build Info: {
    "version": "4.4.30",
    "gitVersion": "4d7fa6a6260d25c5caa971dce10561690cb79dea",
    "openSSLVersion": "OpenSSL 1.1.1f  31 Mar 2020",
    "modules": [],
    "allocator": "tcmalloc",
    "environment": {
        "distmod": "ubuntu2004",
        "distarch": "x86_64",
        "target_arch": "x86_64"

If you have a raspberry pi 4, I use the same mongodb version on it.

Sorry raspberry pi4 use mongod 4.4.18 and omada 6.2.14.6
