Model : TL-WA7210N

Hardware Version : Not Known

Firmware Version :

ISP : Virgin Media

Hi all,

Firstly I had already purchased the TL-WA7210N before coming across this site and I know there is a newer model but I believe this should meet my needs and it was cheaper. My house is CAT6 networked with a cable running to my separated garage. I have an area of approx 30m either side of where the 7210 will be mounted (on my garage) with the omni on a horizontal flat plane 15m wide with no direct obstructions in the way. Both will be mounted approx 7 to 8ft above ground level with no upper floor areas to cover. I know I have to select external antenna within the 7210 and would like to know if this setup should be OK?

(1) Do I need to ground the 7210 and omni? If so, where and how?
(2) I want this kit to run 24/7 with it being accessed every day by no more than 4 users but on occasions may be upto 12. However, I read somewhere that the 7210 reboots itself or needs to be every 5 days, is this true and why?
(3) Does the omni ANT2415D need any external power or is being connected to the 7210 sufficient?

(4) The cable in my garage is connected to my Virgin Media Superb 2, which setting do I require to create the outdoor wireless coverage I need. Access Point or AP Router?

Any help appreciated, thanks in advance,

Steve.

1-makes no dif. but if you ground it, it's any cable, where you connect the cat 5 cable, to the left there is a little screw, very little, there
2-unless done manually, Ping Wartch Dog, does not work
3-Nope
4-AP, on same subnet, dif ip

Thanks Dannymarc, I know where the ground screw is, just not sure where to ground it to if needed. If I understand your response to (2) it won't need rebooting but I could do it manually if required due to not working for some reason. I don't know what Wartch Dog is?Kit has arrived and looks like it's a bit over the top for my requirements but if it works I'll be happy and it will allow me to look at other WiFi projects. Cheers,Steve.

1-Google how to ground electrical device
2-you add ip from ISP (internet service provider) router, enable it, and will ping 3 times, if it can't ping 72 will reboot, sounds beautiful, the problem is it does not work
3-set vertical antenna, (default setting) and you will see it works, without the extra antenna you bought, and yes, works 360 degrees, test and prove me wrong

All installed and working perfect with the Omni antenna, really pleased. I've achieved what I set out to do. A bit late regarding the antenna as already purchased and it does look good.
