I have the same model and I've been having issues with it from day 1. Do people usually have issues with this router?

I also have this same router TL-WR941HP V2 and it has the following frequent problems:

1) WAN Orange Light in router mode in the following situations:
- Downloading or uploading file(s) with ADSL Internet connection (8 Mbits)
- When is doing a speedtest and even when you are downloading a single torrent
- Running Windows Update or when is updating a software

2) High CPU usage (if you see the Perfomance Monitor) in medum level tasks for example: (all the situations in the point 1)

The manual says " WAN orange light means NO INTERNET". This orange light appears when I am using qBittorrent, downloading or uploading files at top speed of my Internet connection (8 Megabits ADSL2+). When I see the CPU and Memory Monitor in the router, the CPU load is very high (between 80 and 100%). But, There is no red light if I transfer a folder or big files between 2 PCs in LAN (1 PC Ethernet and the other over WiFi)

Screenshots:

The first screenshot is the CPU and Memory Load when I was doing a speed test. The second screenshot and the third are when I was trasfering a big file between 2 PCs in LAN. I was thinking that the problem may be the firmware, because this router has a Qualcomm Atheros TP9343(750 MHz) | RAM1: 64 MiB (a very good peace of hardware) but may still have a very unstable and buggy firmware. I hope that soon a new version of firmware will be release, we need a more stable and better performance of a hardware that by his specs should be excellent..

I have a similar issue with the v2.0. when I'm seeing a vídeo in YOUTUBE suddenly they connection to the wi-fi devices is broker, I issued fling to do a ping on the router address and I don't get any answer from the device, on the wired connection the router works perfectly, but on the wi-fi all the devices can't get access to another device ir Even the router, at this point to thing can happen, 1 the router stops this abnormal state and I can do ping to the router ir the internets pages, or I need to turn off the router for 10 seconds

@Kevin_Z
Hi @Kevin_Z ,

I was discussing on a different topic and when researching on Forums I found this one that seems the same of the issue I'm facing.

I ahve 2 Windows, 2 iOS and 3 Android devices connected to my wifi. There is one Android device (Samsung A10S with Android 10) that when after a random period of time (15, 20, 40 minutes, etc) connected to this wifi it starts to show as connected but without Internet access. At the same time ALL otheer devices lose their Internet access as well.

When I just turn off andd then turn back on the Wifi of the Samsung A10S device, everything returns to work on ALL other devices.

Today I tried to use a device connected via cable to the WR941HP while having the wifi issue, and I had internet connection. This showed that it's not a Internet Provider issue, but something specific to the Wifi.

When using this Samsung A10S device on another Wifi (with another router) I don't have any issue with it.

I tried what you suggested on another topic (https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/200588) to change some settings to test. Please find below what I've tried.

-> Changed the Chanel Width from Auto to a different value (I tried 20MHz and 40MHz).

-> Changed the Channel from Auto to a different value (Tried with 6 and 11).

-> Changed the securty version from Auto to "WPA-PSK" and I tried also with "WPA2-PSK".

-> Changed the Encryption from Auto to "TKIP" and "AES"

-> I was using the "Beta" Firmware version to have the fix to the Chromecast issue, but as a test today I installed the Latest Official version to BR (TL-WR941HP(BR)_V2_180305)

Note that after all changes I still have the issue.

When checking  the Router System Log I can see the following 2 messges repeating:

led-controller[1013]: <6> 288051 Start to run WAN0_OFF
led-controller[0]: <6> 288996 Log 288051 repeated 7 times

Please find attached the Log. Note that I lost wifi connectivity sometime between 2020-09-04 00:59:47 and 2020-09-04 01:11:40.

Thanks

@RAPROD

Hi, thanks for all the detailed info and system log.

Can you please confirm if you never connect this Samsung A10S to the 941HP network? Will there still be an issue?

When there is no internet access on all the wireless connected devices, are they still able to get a valid IP address from the 941HP? Can you do a ping test on those devices and see what is the results?

Thanks.

@Kevin_Z

Hi,

You are correct. Without connecting this device to the wifi everything works.

When there is no internet, we still see the devices with valid IPs. But when trying to ping it we are not able to get a successfull response. We got either a "Connection Timeout" or "Destination Host Unreachable".

Please find attached a PDF with the following screenshots:

PingTools_Ping.jpeg -> Captured from an Android Device connected to Wifi while having the wifi/internet issue showing all devices connected via Wifi.

PingTools_Ping2.jpeg -> Captured from an Android Device connected to Wifi while having the wifi/internet issue trying to ping the Samsung A10S device.

Admin_page.JPG -> Laptop wired connected to the WR941HP while having the wifi/internet issue showing the Router Admin Page with the list of connected devices.

ping_wired_network.JPG -> Laptop wired connected to the WR941HP while having the wifi/internet issue trying to ping a device connected via Wifi.

Thanks
