MR3420 IP address refuses to change to 192.168.1.x when used as an AP

MR3420 IP address refuses to change to 192.168.1.x when used as an AP

Hardware Version : Not Clear
Firmware Version : stock
ISP : Vox
I am trying to use my router as an access point, I want it to have the same IP address as the rest of the network, however when I try to change it to 192.168.1.x it refuses with the error, the WAN and the LAN cannot be on the same subnet mask, I have connected this router via a LAN cable from the main router and it establishes the 192.168.0.x network, this messes up my interconnectivity with other IOT devices, screen sharing etc, that are on the main network. Is there a way to use it as an AP and use the 192.168.1.X network while connected to it? Are there step by step instructions on how to connect this particular router as an AP, I managed to connect the newer version (wr940) as an AP in the same network without hassles. Please assist, I'm a noob...:D
