I have installed the tplink utility tpPLC on my laptop but it will only find the powerline adapters if I disable the symantec firewall. I have tried removing the tpPLC application from the firewall rules and allowing the application to re-add the rule when re-launching tpPLC but the network searches and responses are still blocked. I can only disable the firewall for a few minutes at a time. There must be some way to allow tpPLC to access through the firewall correctly. Has anyone else resolved this?

Hi Steve,

You need to enable the Homeplug protocol to the firewall rules:

Go to: Configure Firewall Rules --> Add...

In the General Tab:

Give a name to the new rule (HomePlug)

Select the "Allow this traffic" option

In Ports and Protocols tab:

Select Protocol "Ethernet"

And in Ethernet Type text box type: 0x88E1   (It's not on the suggestions list)

Click OK (leave the other tabs and options by default)

It should then work.

BR
