Hi,

I have a problem with my TL-WN881ND (EU) V2, it keeps losing connection after several minutes. I have to periodically use windows troubleshooting and it keeps detecting it with " default gateway is not available". After troubleshooting, it works fine for a while and then it keeps losing connection again. I use the latest library from https://www.tp-link.com/uk/download/TL-WN881ND.html#Driver . Tried looking at several forum post and applied their suggestions such as reinstalling the driver, tried some driver recommendation (Qualcomm Atheros AR9287), even updating windows (I now use windows 10, previously 7) but keeps getting same error. Would really appreciate for any suggestions.

Thanks.

@sureper

Windows 10 2004 upgrade fixed my problem. It may be helpful.

@sureper Got the same exact problem. I've tried everything even buying the same adapter but both have the same issue.

Come on TP-Link customer support, give us good solution instead of suggesting reinstalling your glitchy firmware.

@Yoza

Please excuse me if this post sounds a little late and simplistic, did you replace LAN cable or tried to update your Ethernet Driver? Did your router connected to the Internet? Is the router provided by the ISP, or do you have your own router connected to your ISP's Modem/Router?  This one https://techloris.com/default-gateway-is-not-available/ might help you.

PS:  One of the most common issues with gateways is having IP conflicts. If you have a few devices check the IP of the web interfaces and the DHCP lease.

@Yoza

Hello, we are so sorry to hear your TL-WN881ND not working well. We can try to do some troubleshooting to figure it out.

What's the operating system of your computer? Have you tried to set up a static IP address on your computer? How about optimizing the router's wireless settings such as change the channel and channel width?

Did you ever try to use the adapter on another slot or computer?

Hi @Stella.Q , I've done every single troubleshoot steps you said below. I'm using latest updated win10, I've tried using static IP, changing channel, changing pcie port, update the device driver, using generic device driver from the board manufacture, I even bought another new TL-WN881ND adapter, yet still getting gateway error.

I've had enough and finally bought the archer line. Until now it works flawlessly. So tell me, after that troubleshoots, will tplink recognize TL-WN881ND is a defective board?

@Yoza

Hi, if you don't mind, please plug the TL-WN881ND back to the computer and do some further troubleshooting with our engineer. There are many reasons that cause the issue, it may be the adapter itself, maybe the compatibility problem between the adapter and router or computer.

Please refer to the instruction below to check the driver version and system info.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2722/

Besides, what's the hardware version of your TL-WN881ND? What's the model number of your router?

How often the issue happens?  Would you please send us a screenshot of the error message when the issue happens?

@sureper I have the same problem. Although Ubuntu runs without any issues on the same machine, Windows 10 periodically loses gateway.

I tried everything; different drivers (Microsoft, Realtek, Tp-link), dynamic or static IP, reset network..

@sureper

After some weeks looking for information about this issue I find out this topic. I thought that the error was because some stupid configuration of the computer, but I see that the problem comes from the card. Would be nice if TPLINK could SUPPORT us, as we are paying not only for the product, but also for supporting it
