Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20170621 Rel. 69735

Hi together,

maybe somebody can help me in case of the Access Point Mode of the RE200 AC750 Extender.

I configured the RE200 as access point successful. Now I want to connect my cable modem (Thomson THG571K) to the ethernet plug of the RE200.

The first question is if the RE200 has a real WAN port? Because if I'm connected via WiFi to the built up Access Point the RE200 is not reacting after the ethernet connection between the cable modem and the RE200.

For comparison I checked a different connection from a real router (AVM FritzBox) as ethernet / LAN connection to the RE200, which is working fine. That means the Internet connection is available via the Access Point.

But with the cable modem which has a public IP the internet connection will be not accepted by the RE200 in this Access Point Mode.

Has anybody some more experience in this case?

Maybe this combination of RE200 and a cable modem is not possible?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Ingo

Update:

After I checked to use a LAN crossover cable instead a normal patch cable the connection between the cable modem and the RE200 is working.

Now the internet connection from the used notebook is fine. But if I use my smartphone to connect to the RE200 as well the connection isn't working to the internet.

The notebook gets the public IP of the cable modem via pass through (ipconfig). But every other client gets a private IP address (192.168.0.xxx).

The question is now if only one client can be connect to the internet via the cable modem? What is limited here?

Has anybody a feasible solution for this issue?

Thanks and best regards,

Ingo

Hey, the RE200 is used to boost wifi signal by connecting to the host network, while it can work as an access point.

If you connect it to a cable modem, the device connected to the RE200 can get internet access, but only one at once because of the public IP address.

In other word, with PC-- RE200 - cable modem, the PC got the public IP address, and other devices won't be able to access internet at the same time.

May it help.

How did you manage to set it up as an access point?

I have tried & tried using the instructions given in the manual & on YouTube, but after logging in the page I’m taken to appears different to those in the instructions & doesn’t have an option to select mode as instructed!
