Hello,
I have the following setup :
                                          +======+
                                          | Internet |
                                          +======+
                                                 |||
+======+                          +======+
| Internet |                           |   ISP 2  |
+======+                          +======+
       |||                                   |           | Bridge mode
+======+                          +========+
|   ISP  1 | DHCP                 | TP LINK  |
+======+                          +========+
     | 192.168.42.253                     | 192.168.42.254
     | 192.168.7.254                       |
     | 192.168.8.254                       |
+=========================+
|                      Switch                      |
+=========================+

I configured my network (my router of my ISP 1) to redirect VLAN 7 to the ISP 2 through the TP Link Router.
With the TP WR841N, all was working fine. VLAN 7 and VLAN 42 were routed to ISP 2 and had access to the Internet. Vlan 8 routed to ISP 1.

I bought an Archer C6 to have more Gigabit interfaces and I did the same configuration that I did for the TP WR841N, same IP address, same static route, disable wireless interface, I even take the same Mac address for the Wan interface to not mess with my ISP 2 configuration router (configured in bridge mode). My VLAN 42 still access to the Internet, but my VLAN 7 don't have access to the Internet, but it can access to the TP Link router.

Is there any minor/major change between the "TP WR841N" and the "TP Archer C6" that could explain this problem?

On the Advanced Routing configuration, I can see that on the TP WR841N, the default gateway (0.0.0.0) is at the end of the routing table (in the web interface), while on the TP Archer C6, the default gateway is at the beginning... but I cannot change the order.

Regards

I think your 841n is quite an old device, maybe you can check the hardware version.

As for as I know, router for home use has restrict the forward rules to its own lan only, for the consideration of security.

Thus as you can see vlan 42 could access internet without any problems, while vlan 7 fails.

For the old routers, it has not take so care of security, it is more like router work well is ok.

So you can see, are lan data can be forwarded.

In this scenario, you shall choose a business router, for example, TP-LINK load balance router R470T+

It support dual WAN, as you have two ISP lines. It support policy routing, as you can direct vlan42 and vlan7 go via ISP2. It support multi-nets NAT, as you can forward multiply lan data.

Ok, @May thank you for your answer

I think the TL-ER6020 should be more accurate to have Gigabit interface, dual WAN, policy routing and multi-nets NAT.

@May  I've just bought Archer C6 to replace my old Archer C2, made the same advanced routing configuration and it doesn't work too. I really cannot have two subnets with access to the Internet (WAN) with C6?

@PKP

Are you using the same network topology as Akeneo's? You can describe yours in detail, and provide the static routing settings on your C6, we will confirm.

@Kevin_Z
My topology is very simple:

Internet
     |
     |
 WAN
 -----------------
 |  TP-LINK   |
 -----------------
 LAN 192.168.1.1
    |
    |  192.168.1.0/24

    |

 LAN 192.168.1.2
 -----------------
 |  router 2     |
 -----------------

 LAN 192.168.2.1
    |
    |  192.168.2.0/24

    |

    ....

TPLINK has a static route to destination 192.168.2.0 set to IP GW 192.168.1.2
Ping from 192.168.1.* to 192.168.2.* works.
Ping from 192.168.2.* to 192.168.1.* works.
Ping from 192.168.1.* to internet works.
Ping from 192.168.2.* to internet works with TP Link Archer C2, but not with Archer C6. Same configuration.

What's the make and model of Router 2 and what is its purpose ?

To which router your client devices are connected ?

Is it feasible to set the router 2  in AP mode so you'll avoid the double NAT in your network ?

@terziyski

Router 2 is AirGrid M5 HP, its purpose is to split local network into another subnet, which has its own broadcast services (local computers, printers) and users.

There is no double NAT, router 2 simply routes between two subnets. The only NAT is on TP-LINK to WAN interface.

The main fact is the TP-LINK Archer C2 works, C6 doesn't, it blocks traffic from different local subnet to WAN :-(

@PKP

Are you sure about the router 2 ? AirGrid M5 HP is an Ubiquiti wireless access point CPE.

@terziyski Sure, Ubiquiti configured in SOHO Router Mode. Please pay attention why TP-LINK Archer C6 doesn't route whereas Archer C2 does?

I really can't say why's that. It needs some troubleshooting.

Try these two:

ping google.com

then

ping 8.8.8.8

Does any of those two receiving a replies ?

If the second ping command is receiving replies, then this would be a DNS problem - try setting a different DNS server in Ubiquity LAN settings (like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

If there's no replies from both ping commands, then observe what's the GW of the devices connected to Ubiquity and change it from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.1.1 (if possible)
