Firmware Version: Archer C7(US)_V4_180425

Hi there.

all of a sudden i noticed that if i disable access control and connect a device to my wifi, and then enable access control again, the device will automaticly be added to the whitelist devices without me doing anything besides turning on access control.

is that a known bug? or is it just me?

please advise,

Shlomi.

Hi,

Below is the instruction to setup the access control feature.

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1535/

Theoretically, with a new device connected to the router, it won't be added into whitelist automatically, instead, it will show up under the online devices list.

Or you can shot a short video about this issue and send to us .

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

Hi Shlomid,

I checked some info and found that the current situation is normal.

Cause the access control swicthed from enabled to disabled, with a new devices connected and re-enable the access control, this device will be added into the whitelist automatically so that it won't lose connection.

May it help.

That's a major security hole.

If i delete the mac from the whitelist it adds itself again, that's not normal and should be patched immediately.

I meant as long as the client is connected to my wifi, I can't get rid of it. I can delete the mac address but it'll be readded to my whitelist.

With access control enabled, to continue get internet, the devices which has connected to the router will be added into the whitelist automatically;

What do you mean by you can delete the mac address but it'll be readded into the whitelist? Is that to say, even though you delete it from the whitelist, as long as it is connected, it will back to the whitelist again?

Yes, exactly. It shouldn't be added automatically ether way.
