Fix 5G channel width at 80Mhz on Archer C4000
My router is a Archer C4000.
No matter how I set up the Wi-Fi, it can only run at 40Mhz channel width.
I tried auto or fix it at 80Mhz. It only runs at 40Mhz. I tried Smart Connect but didn't help. Both 5G channels can only run at 40Mhz. Can anyone give me some advise?

Hi,
What do you mean that the C4000 only runs at 40MHz even though you fix it at 80MHz? How do you know that? Is there any specific symptom?
If possible, please show us a screenshot.
Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

Hi,
I checked with some Wi-Fi monitor apps on my Android phone. It showed both 5G channels width were only 40Mhz. Connection speed is only 400Mbps max on all my laptops and phones. They could connect at 800Mbps+ with my old Linksys EA6900.
Attached is a screenshot showing the problem I have. Smart Connect is now enabled in my Archer C4000 right now.

What I changed is the Wi-Fi router. I used same devices to test.

It seems the router can only run 5Ghz band with 80Mhz channel width only if I manually choose the channel.

Whenever I set channel to auto, the channel width will become 40Mhz.

Hi,
Glad to hear that it can work at 80MHz once you fixed the channel.
And for your information, when you select the channel as auto, considering the existing wireless environment interference and avoid its impact, the router will choose 40MHz to get better performance.
As a workaround for now, a fixed channel for 5Ghz will be a good choice.
Have a nice day.

The problem is 5G band won't run on 80Mhz channel width even I set that manually, unless I set the channel manually.
Isn't this a bug?

Hi,
For now, to get channel width as 80MHz, the channel need to be fixed. It is based on the mechanism to guarantee the performance of the internet as much as possible.
May it help and have a nice day.
