Model: Archer T2U Nano
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I just bought this adapter as this morning I found out that the VR400 router only has a single gigabit port despite all promo for it says "ports" (plural) in the hope of getting a faster LAN connection.

Now, I've installed the drivers from TP Link here: https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/download/archer-t2u-nano/#Driver

In my Network connections, there's only 1 adapter, so I can only connect to either 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz, not both as it says, and the fastest I can connect is 72.2Mb on 2.4Ghz or 86.7Mbs on 5Ghz. My old laptop built in WiFi ony has 2.4Ghz but that connects at 144Mbps.

The PC is 2 foot away from the router with nothing in the way.
I've set both the router and adapter to ac, also tried auto, makes no difference

Plugged in to USB3 and USB2 ports, no difference

Any help with this would be appreciated

Hi,

The T2U nano is a dual band wireless network adapter, while the device can connect to the one band at once.

Back to your case, we can do further analysis.

1. what is the operating system of your computer?

2. what is the actual speed you can get from the VR400 via 2.4GHz or 5GHz?

3. Please try to fix a channel and channel width for the VR400; For 2.4GHz, change channel to 1, 6 or 11, channel width as 40MHz; for 5GHz, the channel can be 36, 40 and 44; channel width 80MHz.

After that, please run a speed test and check the wireless link speed as well.

Good day.

Thanks for the reply, the specs for the dongle quoted below. So 600 mbps must be possible and from the specs it must use both at once or it's false advertising.

  • "High Speed WiFi– Up to 600Mbps speeds with 200Mbps on 2.4GHz and 433 Mbps on 5GHz, upgrades your devices to higher AC WiFi speeds."

I have changed the channel and width and 5Ghz is now at 433Mbps, thank you

Just need to get to the 600Mbps advertised now somehow.

Hi,

600Mbps is the sum of wireless link speed of 2.4GHz and 5Ghz both. To make it clear and precise, we replace 633Mbps as 600Mbps. As mentioned below:

https://www.tp-link.com/home-networking/adapter/archer-t2u-nano/#overview

High Speed WiFi– Up to 600Mbps speeds with 200Mbps on 2.4GHz and 433 Mbps on 5GHz, upgrades your devices to higher AC WiFi speeds.

While per I said above, the device can connect to one of them at once. So the wireless link speed related to the wifi band you connected.

May it help and have a nice day.

@Lekalvin

You should change the channel on the router's management page. If you have a TP-Link router, you may refer to the instruction below. Or you can contact the router support to change it.

Good day.
