The login page of the C2300 (and probably other TP-Link routers as well) does not work well with Safari on MacOS. As you can see in the attached video file the password fill option does not work and therefore the field cannot be auto-populated by keychain in the usual way. The keychain icon is there but clicking on it does nothing as demonstrated in the video. The issue is the same on iOS.

The web UI itself won't save the password due to GDPR; while some browsers support this feature, like Google chrome.

 

The situation is the same as yours. See pic attached below. 

 

Once you saved the password, you can choose the keychain to fulfill the password automatically, but if it does not work, it has something to do with the browser, not the router.
