Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20190617 Rel. 47476

I've just gotten a Deco M5 and am encountering an oddity.

I have a 1Gig Internet plan and for whatever reason, my uploads speeds are performing rather poorly whenever the Deco is involved.

Anyone able to shed some light on this?

My speed test results are listed below with the topography of my network setup in order tgr with my QoS settings.

1)ONT>SG108E>COM

2)ONT>M5>COM

3)ONT>SG108E>M5

@Ex14

I did not quite get the current network diagram you mentioned, what does COM mean? And what is the operation mode of the Deco? Could you please explain it one more time?

Back to your case, what is the bandwidth you paid for your ISP?

From the picture attached, the download speed is about 940Mbps, the upload speed is 670-940Mbps?

With computer connected to the main Deco by wired cable and the slave Deco disconnected from the network, what is the speed you can get from the main Deco?

Please run a test with computer connected to the ONT directly.

Looking forward to your reply.

@Kevin_Z

The internet we have is 1Gbps down and up

TheDeco is in router mode and the layout tested is as follows

1) ONT>Deco M5>Switch>Computer (941.69/677.94)

2)ONT>Deco M5>Computer (942.98/681.27)

3)ONT>Computer (945.74/946.33)

For the test with deco it doesn't matter with slaves or without slaves connected, the results are identical. around 500-700Mbps upload only

@Ex14

Thanks for your updates.

What is the operation mode of Deco? Router mode or access point mode?

If it is router mode, try to test the speed via the Test internet Speed option on the Deco app.

And go to Advanced-QoS page to set total bandwidth as Get via Internet Speed test.

After that, please run a test again and show us the picture of the test results.

@Kevin_Z

The Deco is in Router Mode

the Deco app speed test shows normal results

Testing on the computer after following the instructions listed still mostly gives me these results.

@Ex14

Thanks for your explanation.

You mentioned the network diagram earlier, and it shows that the slave Deco connects to the ONT box directly as well, it is suggested to disconnect it and then connect the slave Deco to the Main Deco or switch by wired cable/wireless.

Besides, try to simplify the network diagram, in other word, please connect the computer to the main Deco which connects to the ONT to test the upload speed.

And try to swap different Decos to do a comparison analysis.

Still the same, please tell us who is your ISP, and the mac address of the Deco and your cloud account. (You can send to us privately)

Good day.

@Kevin_Z

I connected it directly (ONT>Deco>Computer) and am getting 600-700Mbps mostly There are some spikes back up to 800Mbps occasionally. Swapping Deco does not improve anything. ISP is Singtel I will PM you the other details shortly.
