Hello,

I don't remember the password of the router and I can't connect to it.

The typical factory reset with the button on the back is not working. I've tried to connect to the router using PUTTY and command line via telnet with no luck. Accessing by web als not working.

Is there any way to reset the router to factory settings?

I also tried to make a ping with the router connected directly by cable and it works, 100% package delivered. The problem is that I cannot access the router via telnet.

Thank you,

@kraker

Hi, the default login password of the web UI is admin, and the wireless password is printed on the back panel of the actual device, which is 8 digits numbers.

How to hard reset it: with the router powered on, hold the reset button/hole for 10s until all the leds come on momentarily.

May it help and have a nice day.

@Kevin_Z Thanks Kevin but as I have explained the factory reset isn't working, I've tried 10 seconds lots of times and more time that 10 seconds. The router does not reset, it does not make anything.

My password is not admim and the password of the wifi is not the one in the back. I changed it some years ago I now I don't remember. This is why I need to factory reset it.

Thank you,

Try the 30 30 30 rule https://www.lifewire.com/hard-reset-rule-for-routers-3971318

@kraker

Try to power cycle the router and reset it again to give it a go.  Please ensure that you use the original power adapter.

You can try the 30 30 rule provided by Archer C8 also.

Still the same I'm afraid that there is not much we can do; you can contact the local tech support to verify whether the replacement is qualified.

Good day.

I have the same problem and the 30 30 30 rule didn't do the trick. Is there any other way to perform a factory reset?

@Srinivas90 I found that reset did work, but new IP address 192.168.1.1 instead of original 192.168.0.1, so try 192.168.1.1 to connect via the GUI.

Hope this helps.
