Model: RE200
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20190731 Rel. 41250

Trying to connect RE200 to the cloud, and it just keeps coming back with a time out error.

Can log in to cloud using a browser on a laptop connected to the RE200

Is this a known issue?

@Mehuge

Do you mean you failed to connect it to the cloud via Tether app but browser works?

Once you logged into the web UI of the RE200, go to Settings-system tools-Time Settings page to check the system time.

Please ensure that it is correct, and you can change the Time zone to a random one and change it back to the right one. After that, test whether it works with Tether app.

Besides, you can reboot the whole system, including main router, RE200 and your cellphone to give it a go.

May it help.

I mean, in RE200 web admin, Settings, TP-Link Cloud, please log in with your TP-Link ID

Enter my email and password, click login.  It comes back with Request timed out.

It makes a request to

http://192.168.5.250/cgi-bin/luci/;stok=...snip.../admin/cloud_account?form=user_login

and gets the response:

{"success":false,"data":{"errorcode":"-3002"}}

The RE200 is running in access point mode, not extender.

@Mehuge

RE300 v1 same issue after update to 1.0.5 Build 20191114 Rel. 34543 latest firmware. When downgrade manually to an older available fw, problem solve. So the new fw is buggy.

@Mehuge

Thanks for your reply. You mentioned "Can login...", so I thought you can access the cloud via the web UI, but not Tether app.

Back to your case, have you ever tried to change another web browser and disable the antivirus/firewall software on your device?

And try to change the time settings to give it a go.

Still the same, you can degrade  the firmware to verify whether it works.

May it work.

@Kevin_Z

This sypmtoms is not too simple. I made a few workaround steps, but not change antivirus or any security software. The problem started with latest 1.0.5 update.

The original problem was that i dont see RE300 device online in the tether app through mobile net (NOT WIFI). But from my pc,  through browser with lan, I can acces the device, and i can login too. But under the  tplink cloud menu my user was not logged, and when I try sign in, not succes with timeout error.

BUT!!!!

I think, I solved the problem, but I need feedback about repeatable. I was a VALID network settings in the network menu (IP, GW,DNS). If I set the auto obtain, EVRYTHING (remote and local access through browser and tether app) work fine.

Same behaviour after trying the timezone trick.
Same behaviour on two different machines accessing the web interface.
Same behaviour even when I disable firewall on PC accessing the RE200 web interface as that could interfere with the XHR request (not sure what you mean by device).
Disabling firewall on internet router is not possible. I am behind NAT.
Same behaviour in Chrome and Firefox

The question is, what does errorcode -3002 mean?

That is what is being returned by the RE200 to the web page. If I run a packet trace on my internet router the only traffic I see from the RE200 while it is trying to authenticate me are ICMP packets being sent to the gateway (.1) which seems an odd thing to do in response to a login request.

So the sequence of events is:

I click Login

Browser does a POST to the RE200 /cgi-bin/lluci/;stok=.../admin/cloud_account?form=user_login
RE200 starts sending ICMP packets to my Internet router for about 20 seconds (my router gratiously replies)
RE200 responds to POST request with error response for errorcode: -3002

This is an issue with V1.1.0 Build 20190731 Rel. 41250, previous one was able to connect to TP Link Cloud without issues.

The error arises both in the webpage as well as in the Tether App.

@Mehuge

I finally found the solution.

Put the dns server IP your router or IP instead of google IP.
