Hi All,

I have an AX router. I wanted to know if anyone knows how to restart a PC that is connected to the router from a remote location? I can remote manage the TP-Link router over SSL but want to reboot a PC that is actively connected from the TP-Link router itself. Does anyone know how to do this? Does anyone know how to do this via a Magic packet WoL? Does anyone know how to request this feature to be created in the TP-Link firmware/interface? Please let me know whenever you get a chance. I want to do this because every time I install a new VPN service provider client software and try to connect, it kills my remote connection to that computer like if a kill switch became enabled. I then have to physically go home and restart the computer instead of being able to do it remotely from work.

Happy New Year!

Hello, does the remote laptop support WOL? Try to enable the WOL feature on the particular laptop first.

Then you can reserve an IP address for the 2 computers under DHCP server- address reservation page and then please enable the IP&MAC binding.

After that, you can try to send the magic packet ( internet IP + port number) from an external device and verify whether it works.

Good day.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for replying.

My computers have WoL enabled. The issue I am trying to resolve is when I lose remote connection to the PC. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to get my work PC to send a windows reboot command via magic packet to my router which will then forward it to my Windows PC at home to perform the reboot? Does that make sense?
