Deco M9 Plus V2 problem
Hi
I have an issue with the Deco M9 Plus V2.
Story: I bought a set of 3 Deco M9 Plus V1 and they works fine with the app. I wanted to expand my network and bought a new set of 3 Deco M9 Plus.
They new Decos turned out to be Deco M9 Plus V2. No problem connecting the new Decos in the app.
Now to my issue:
The M9 Plus V2 does not look the same as my Deco V1 in the app. I can´t see what devices are connected to the V2.
Even a iMac connected directly to LAN doesn´t show up, but internet works. Even less if there are wireless devices connected.
I want full control of my network. I believe it should work, it said so on the package.
What can we do to solve my problem?

First of all, I would like to thank @SrDarkWarrior for willingness and ability to support the group.
I have the M9 V2 as well. It is troubling that TP is now silent on this issue. I will appreciate feedback from those who tried the beta version on the following:
- Is the V2 functionality with 1.4beta fw similar to V1 with the latest update?
- For those who use M9 in a mesh with other deco models:
- How stable is the mesh before and after the update?
- Does the M9 offer full functionality (e.g. zigbee support) in your mixed mesh?
Lastly, I need your advice on this. I recently purchased 3 M9 V2 which I installed and is working aside from the fw issues you know. The retailer is willing to replace them with a V1 unit which they still have. Should I make the swap or wait for the official V2 update?
Thank you.
TP: your silence is defeaning

1) yes, beta gives you similar features now between v1 and v2
2) I installed beta and stability was fine for me across my mesh. Good feature parity and I do have a mix of v1 and v2 hardware. I do suggestion waiting 15mins or so to let mesh and APs populate properly with connected clients and details before you start using the app to see if you like how it works. Not sure about zigbee, others should weigh in.
3) I don't know, good question. It's really not clear to me what the hardware advantages are between the two. The way TPLink manages the code trains is enough to make me want to switch to all V1...but not sure what future implications that will bring. What do others think?

This is very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Will appreciate further input from those who use the M9 in mixed mesh.
I kindly ask TP support to clarify to us the hardware differences between the M9 V1 and V2.

Worldwide, but at least still on the Dutch site
https://www.tp-link.com/nl/support/download/deco-m9-plus/#Firmware
the 1.4 version was released as an official (non-Beta) version yesterday.
(Build 20200324 Rel. 53529_US_JP_EU_up.bin)
So the Rel number seems different and NO, not possible (yet) to update via the app.
The name of the .bin-file seems to indicate a 'world wide' version, but I have seen post in other threads
saying it has een removed from sites/servers outside Europe ?!
Oh and for your info: and I installed it: no issues :-)

Thank you for the additional assurance. With no clear timeline for update via the app (strong preference), I will go ahead and update using the link as I can no longer put up with the stripped down version I am currently running. Fingers crossed...

Hi,
I would say (for sure) this has to be V2 indeed.
TP uses a build-date and a (different) publication date and no real version number in the name of the firmware file.
So the V2 Firmware with build-date 26/9/2019 was published for the US on 14/10/2019.
HOWEVER, I just checked and going via the official route to the US-website, the NEW firmware is again (?!) there:
https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-m9-plus/#Firmware
or direct link:
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202006/20200623/Deco_M9Plus_V2_1.4.0.zip
I cannot test IF you can use the app to update to this (likely still not, and yes, that's something for TP-Link to work on; come on guys :-) ), but using the update too
s and following the instructions, you should be fine.
For the tool: on the US website:
https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-m9-plus/#Utility
or direct link:
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202006/20200608/M9Plus_2.0_upgrade_tool_v1.1.0_win32.zip
Good luck and KR,
Willem
