Hi,

I successfully installed yesterday (thanks to Kevin) an AC750 RE200 as access point via Ethernet.

To do this, I had to disable automatic IP addressing and chose a fix IP address in my box subnetwork range:

Device works fine.

This morning I found in the log file of the device a message repeated every minute or so:

Why?

What should I do to remove this message, please?

Moreover, my Box sez : "RE200 disconnected/connected" every minute or so.

I checked the RE200 in my box interface, its address is correct but shown as "DHCP":

How come?

Thanks.

EDIT

I double checked my box interface and just discovered a third device connected via Ethernet which just doesn't exist (I have only my PC and the RE200 plugged in):

HOST002

address 192.168.1.3

manufacturer name: AzurWave Technology

Connected via DHCP.

:-(

I'm lost!

Yes, just forget about the message.

Since I solved the config problem (I had to understand that there were two types of configuration, badly explained in the doc), the repeater works fine (nearly for one year now).
I wish to add that a TP Link tech TeamLinked my PC and solved the params issue in seconds. Thanks to him.

@Desiderius

Thanks for your information. May I know have you enabled the DHCP server on the main router?

Please log in to the web UI of the main router and show us a screenshot of the online devices list.

Or you can show us a screenshot of the DHCP client list page on the main router.

FYI, we did a test at our end, when extender works in AP mode and has a static IP, it will send DHCP request to the DHCP server, but unlike the picture you attached, the extender will receive the packet from the main router(DHCP server) which will assign a new IP address, even though the extender won't use it. Therefore, we suspect that the DHCP server on the main router has not been enabled yet.

Picture attached below.

Thanks a lot.

Yes I did as it provides the IP address of my PS4 (downstairs)

The one of my boys' PS4 (upstairs) uses the RE200 DHCP server (and works fine).

Here are the pix resquested.

@Desiderius

Thanks for your valued reply.

It is a little strange, not sure why the extender shows disconnected/connected every minute on the main router, and the system log on the extender itself.

If it is okay for you, we would like to follow up on your case via email, then we can do further analysis and try to figure it out.

Please check your inbox then.

Man, to me it looks like a programming error.

When dynamic IP addressing is disabled for the device, it should not send such requests (and moreover this slows down a bit the traffic).

@Desiderius

Hello.

I have the exact same issue on a TP link RE220. Is there a follow up / resolution to this?

Thanks!

John
