Model: Archer C5400X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.2 Build 20191223 rel.73956(5553)

Hi

I currently have Verizon FiOS 1 gigabit up and down.

when I do a speed test from the Verizon router out directly I get about 980 Mb per second UP and 990 Mb per second down.

but when I replace and do the same test with the archer C5400X router I'm only getting half that about 540 up maybe 580 down.

Thanks

Angel

I have the C5400 v2 with the latest stable firmware, 1.2.5 Build 20190411 rel.52981(5553).  I had to go into the QoS section of the Advanced tab on the home page of the router setting menu to manually edit the Total Bandwidth entry to 900 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up for my supposedly 600mbps Xfinity service.  At the wall of the house it was around 880 and at the modem it was around 680 or so.  Now, I get anywhere from 620 to 690.  No beta firmware required.

There is a button on the Basic tab of the Network Map page named Speed Test.  When I tested, it would register no more than 315/12 and that is what showed up automatically in the Total Bandwidth entry in both the QoS  Application Priority page and Device Priority page.  When I manually edited the QoS Application Priority page entry to 900/20, the bandwidth restriction to both my wired and wireless devices went away.  It also automatically changed the entry in the QoS Device Priority page to match so that I didn't have to make duplicate entries.

Hope this helps...

@Kidnikki

Hi Angel, you can refer to this thread and get the beta firmware for this Archer C5400X.

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/111712

Note: It is attached to my reply which has been marked as Best Solution.

Then you can take some time to test the speed. And please disable QoS when you did the speed test.

May it help.

@Kidnikki

I have the same issue, have noticed it ever since I upgraded my Centurylink fiber connection to 1gbps up/down. I just scheduled a Centurylink technician to come take a look, but I will cancel b/c so many others having problems like this for the last year. Every post I've found has someone from tp-link offering to download the beta firmware to see if it fixes the issue.

Hard to believe we all bought a >$300 gaming router that can't handle gigabit connections. On top of that, for at least 6 months (haven't looked at all the posts), tp-link has been providing a beta firmware update to fix a speed issue, and some replies have said it's not working for them. Some other brands are looking compelling right now.

@Borthalomew Has anyone resolved this problem?  I have a Archer C5400X with a Century Link 1GB connection and get about 300-400MB download speed.  Is th problem with Century Link or with this router?
