They both worked fine until this morning when I downloaded an Tplink update now only the downstairs re450 is detected and the upstairs is not.

@Rand One RE450 can not be detected its wifi after the firmware upgrade, right?
Normally, firmware upgrade will not change any settings on RE450. Please check this RE450 is still working and LED status.
