Model:Adapter
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

I have recently upgraded to the Archer T4U adapter because I gave the previous adapter to my relative. After I installed the driver and the WPS tool via Autorun.exe in the CD, I went to the Bluetooth and other devices settings and it says that my device can perform faster when connected to USB 3.0. There are 4 USB 3.0 ports for my computer and I have tried all of them, same thing happened. I even tried plugging it to my new gaming laptop and it's still the same. The previous adapter (TP WN722N) didn't have this problem at all. When I test the speed for the Archer, it barely reaches 1 Mbps. Please help!

@DvGxVN  @Kathy_Z

Hello, I have the very same problem! Most probably because of that my Archer T4U v3 (here it is v3.20 US) doesn't achieve speeds higher than about 125 Megas.

Do I need to install which driver? How to install drivers of this zip file? The TP-Link driver that came with CD and the TP-Link driver from the website didn't recognize my Archer, but Windows 10 x64 automatically recognized it...

Edited: I opened a thread here to discuss this issue as well: https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/207130

@AdamJ2020 I highly doubt it, it's brand new

@Kathy_Z Unfortunately this did not work, and also, the adapter can't seem to connect to 5GHz network, even when I set the wireless mode to 802.11a/n/ac

It certainly seems to be evident that T4U usb 3 port is faulty or no connection is established with the usb 3 connectors of PC in spite of being connected to usb 3.... Its happening to me also... T4U usb 3 port is blocked somehow by tplink.. So port is getting connected by usb 2 mode. You should investigate why it is not getting connected by USB3 mode... The answer is simple... Usb3 connection is blocked in archer T4U. Now the question is whether TPlink will enable it via Dongle firmware update or not? Note this is not the Windows software, it is the firmware of the T4U hardware that needs to be fixed... If the internal connections of T4U's USB3 connectors are cut off during manufacture, then no firmware can correct this fault...

 So if T4U gets truly connected in usb3 mode in future then we all will get at least 100MB to 108MB per sec of transfer speed (equivalent to at least 800Mbps at 5GHz ac mode)... I am not talking about internet speed.. because if your internet speed is 400Mbps you will get 400Mbps, if your internet speed is 1Gbps you will get 866.7 Mbps....which is equivalent to at least 100 to 108 MB per sec..

TP Link should state that T4U v 3.2 works only in usb2 mode as of now..

Hey! I faced the same issue too. Searched everywhere for a updated driver, even tried various tweaks but with no solution.

Recently I tried to actually connect to an 5ghz wifi hotspot and problem got solved! It turns out that the device is "adaptive" i.e. when it's connected to 2.4ghz wifi, it behaves as a USB 2.0 device and when connected to 5ghz, it acts as a USB 3.0 device. This even gets reflected under Windows Settings >> Bluetooth & devices >> Devices (using Win 11 beta at the moment).

Hope the above answers your query.

@ch1ru

This matches my experience with a T9UH. Was showing as usb 2.0 until I set it to connect exclusively to 5ghz. Shows as usb 3.0 now.
