Archer MR600(EU) V1 - BETA Firmware - Allowing selection of 4G+bands for Archer MR600 manually
Hi all,
Following the long thread on the same subject discssing the BETA FW, as I said I would, TPLink have given me permission to share the FW download llink.
From TPLink - We recently released a beta firmware for Archer MR600(EU) V1 which can allow us to select 4G+bands for Archer MR600 manually.
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202004/20200420/Archer_MR600v1_1.1.0_0.9.1_[200417-rel75138]_up_boot_2020-04-20_08.44.31.zip
For Archer MR600, if you want to use its 4G+network, your SIM card should support the CA bands group Archer MR400 supports. Please check the attached picture and check if your SIM card supports the band groups on the list or not.
They asked me to state that, this BETA FW is for the Archer MR600(EU) V1 ONLY!
Neither TPLink nor me take any respnsbility if you flash a none-EU router.

in the beta firmware I had fixed band 20 and 7. I had problems with wifi aborts and flashed the official firmware over the beta. now in the official firmware it is always automatically connected to band 20 and 7 without being able or having to select it. everything has been going well for two weeks.

The new firmware doesn't appear on the TP-Link support site yet. Hopefully it will soon along with some comms about the disappearance of band selection. Seems strange when it was working well.
Hang on to the beta firmware everyone!

Just a few minutes ago I have installed the new firmware. If an automatic selection works weel, I don't need a manual selection... then I decided to try how it works.

No mention of the new official firmware fixing the well known issue with SMS messages either...
I have a curious issue with EE in the UK. When left on automatic (or before the beta firmware was installed), the MR600 always selects B3/B20 and shows LTE 4G+. If I manually set it to B3 and none, it correctly shows LTE 4G (i.e. no carrier aggregation).
However, if I set it to B20 and none in order to check performance of this band on its own, it fails to connect, even with a wideband Poynting XPOL-2 antenna connected.
Using Network Cell Info Lite on my EE phone confirms that B3 and B20 are both present.
In reality, EE have only very limited bandwidth available in B20, so it probably doesn't add a lot of speed to the good B3 signal I receive (RSRP ~ 90 dBm with excellent RSRQ/SNR, and ~ 100 Mb/s download in quiet times), but why can't the router connect to it?

I am not giving up on the router yet . I badly need band selection when using 4g as backup . Another great feature would be the switching interval . Let’s say I face disconnections 10 times in 1 minute, in the current scenario the failover takes around 5 seconds and I am disconnected 10 times in that one minute duration . I hope it’s feasible to add a switching interval where the internet stability ( May be packet loss using ping) is checked for a duration (user input ) before switching back from backup connection I.e 4g to WAN

in the end nothing has changed with the new firware? do you recommend keeping that in beta?

I tried asking TP-Link live chat support about not connecting to B20 even though it shows on auto selection. Sent them details of the firmware I was using and screen dumps with exact router status. The agent wouldn't progress the chat until I had told them which lights were showing on the front panel - if that is the level they work at, all hope is lost....

@darant is the option to manually choose bands gone completely? Or did it change place?
