Is there a hidden DHCP Server in Powerline adapters?
I've been having some problems with DHCP on my network. My router (TP-Link Archer VR600) is set to be the DHCP server. It should be the only DHCP server on the network.
However, from time to time clients get the wrong IP address and aren't able to access the internet. When this happens Windows is reporting the IP address one of my TP-Link WPA7510 devices as the DHCP server it is getting network configuration from. On the logs for that WPA7510, I can see "DHCP server started" and "DHCP server stopped" messages.
There is no interface to enable or disable a DHCP server on the PowerLine equipment, nor is it an advertised feature, so what is going on? I have enabled the PowerLine devices to get an IP address using DHCP. Is it possible that this is inadvertantly enabling a DHCP server on the PowerLine device?
This is the UK variant of the WPA8630P.

@MarMart yes indeed, I'm running the provided firmware for the WPA 7510 v2.
This is is the screenshot of the system log of the poweline booted in a network without a running DHCP server.
As you see the adapter is starting its own persistent DHCP server.
This is the same adapter booted in a network with a running DHCP server:
No DHCP server.
I really hope this problem gets fixed otherwise I'll have to return the adapter.

@TP-Link is there an EU version for the TL-WPA7510 v1 version? Are the beta versions listed somewhere? Thanks

If a product implements a DHCP server (and the powerline adapter's main usage is to connect network segments, not to service DHCP requests..) the most basic thing I expect from it is a switch to enable/disable the "extra feature", so that it can happily live in different kind of networks. If you think it's important in the average usage scenario you can keep it enabled by default, but IMHO you should definitely let us choose to disable it. Thanks

@dunxd I have the same problem with TL-WPA8630P KIT consisting of TL-WPA8630P and TL-PA8010P.
Spent hours and hours debugging this intermittent problem before I noticed the log entry and subsequently discovered the embedded DHCP server (which is not mentioned anywhere).
I agree there should be an option to disable it.
I will not buy any further units unless this is resolved.

At this stage I'm surprised this isn't coming up in many reviews on all the units on Amazon etc. Asking here doesn't seem to be very effective for getting this taken seriously.

@TP-Link what about TL-WPA8630P (Rev 2.0) and TL-PA8010P (Rev 2.0) (as KIT WPA8630P) ? Also, as you will notice further on, your suggested solution does not work.
