Model: Adapter
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 20190422 Rel. 52057

I have a pair of 850 REs and a pair of WPA 4220s.

They provide good coverage inside and outside (the 4220s are plugged in to outbuildings on the powerline network) but truly atrocious speeds.

I get a rock-solid 40mb signal to the house and from the router invariably get 33-37Mb d/l speeds wirelessly. However, if I speed test on either the 850s or the 4220s my d/l speed doesn't manage to reach 5Mb. I was prepared to accept a 50% drop from these devices but a 90% drop is ridiculous, Both 850s are showing at least 3 lights before I'm asked.

I'm starting to wonder, looking at all the threads out there, if range extenders are in fact a total waste of time for anything other than providing a bare minumum connection. Is Mesh really the only way to get a fully working wireless network across a house and if so, why are these range extender products allowed to be sold?

As you can probably tell, not best pleased.

@toweliechaos

850RE is connected to your router wifi directly, but not to WPA4220, right?

@Kevin_Z  yes, the 4220s are on separate SIDS on the powerline but the 850s are WiFi direct to router.

Both 850s are 3 lights and give poor speeds.

The 4220s need regular rebooting as they often give ip configuration failure messages.

The equipment is just crap.
