@Saintsfanmike

Give the 5g channel a different name to try if it makes a difference. Just add 5g to the end of the 5g channel name and save it.

@Saintsfanmike

Yes. The router should handle lots of different connections.

If you really want to be selective, give your 5g a different password too.

Very old kit will only see the 2.4 ghz channel.

@Saintsfanmike

Normally, there's no need to separate 2.4G from 5G for wireless setting, i.e. WiFi1 - 2.4G / WiFi2 - 5G. The WiFi router is good enough to determine which network to use with the device, using the same SSID. Additionally, newer device will display the WiFi SSID with (2.4G/5G) alongside it, to indicate SSID is capable of both networks. Of course, there's caveat with the client/device quality.

External link is not allow, but search the web for "does-it-make-sense-to-keep-different-ssids-for-2-4ghz-and-5ghz-wireless-networks" it is a short good technical read.

@Godzilla

That may be the case but i like the clarity of knowing what  i'm connecting to . I connect to wifi6 always. Just my preference.

I agree. It's a matter of preference and provides more control. Separating SSIDs and its channel can cause confusion in certain office/work environment. However, this option does provide simpler/narrower troubleshooting the issue.

@Godzilla thanks guys

i changed SSID names and bot to see both 2.4 and 5, but to be honest it is confusing, decided to factory reset the router and use default SSID and passwod. i now just see one tplink network but decided to leave as is.

Thank you for all your help....
