Model: Archer AX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.08

Hi,

I may be wrong but imo the wifi speed in 5G is not so good compare to what I got before with an older D-LINK router from I used to get around 500Mb/s

As per its specs, my laptop should be able to handle max WIFI 860Mb/s, or a more realistic 600Mb/s

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Gigabyte-Aero-14-7700HQ-GTX-1060-Laptop-Review.211666.0.html

Unfortunately, whatever settings I change, I cannot go over 400Mb/s at 3 meter from the router.

2G is deactivated, mode a/n/ac mixed, everything auto, QOS nothing installed.

Could you help me please ?

Just done it, it's worse, now it's not even 200 mb/s, wtf ??? No matter what setting I can select, game, streaming, standard, there is absolutely NO CHANGE AT ALL. I start to think this router is a joke at almost 300 eur !!!

removed this crappy thetering app, dowgraded to FW 1.07 Better, but still almost same wifi speed than a 4 years old basic router. Definitly not worth the price.

@stylo

I am not the expert, but I believe 600 Mb/s is perhaps a bit too optimistic for an 866 Mb/s-rated connection.

As for the max. 400Mb/s that you've got with your AX50. Have you checked if there are other routers in your neighborhood transmitting on the same channels as your AX50? You could install a (free) WiFi Scanner software on your computer to check this. If there are unused channels available, then manually set the AX50 to that channel and test if that improves your transfer speeds.

In case your Gigabyte laptop allows for easy replacement of its internal Wi-Fi card, then maybe an option for you could be to replace it with an Intel AX200 M.2 card. These are not too expensive.

With my AX200 Wi-Fi card I've got over 900 Mb/s within the same room where my AX50 is. (large file copy from another computer connected to AX50 via Gigabit Ethernet)

DL values specificly on this laptop are difficult to find on the net, but here is one  https://www.notebookcheck.net/Gigabyte-Aero-14-7700HQ-GTX-1060-Laptop-Review.211666.0.html

FYI, Wired, I get 950Mb/s

I will receive an m.2 wifi  AX200NGW card in 10 days, hopefully it will work as fast as yours...

Since yesterday, I'm trying different settings, different FW, it takes time, and nothing better than 450 Mb/s peak, average 380-400 Mb/s, on speedtest.net

I'll update once the card is replaced.

Thanks
