Model: Archer MR600
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 0.9.1

So, I've had a lot of issues with this router since I got it in March.

It started out with slow speed issues. It clearly wasn't using carrier aggrigation and was getting standard 4G speeds. Around 5 - 20 Mbps. My Samsung S7 phone was pulling down better speeds using a SIM from the same Telco (Three).

Anyway the issue started becoming unstable connection and random disconnects. I set the router to restart every morning at 8am because usually if it froze up my only way of pushing it back into life was to do a hard power reset as I couldn't reach the GUI from Wireless or via wired. This became increasingly unstable until eventually I arranged for a warranty replacement from Amazon which thankfully seemed to resolve the randon disconnects.

The speed issue remained. I then obtained a new Samsung S20+ phone and noticed it was connecting using 4G+ and with carrier aggrigation was managing to get 100Mbps speeds without issue and reliably. I contacted support and didn't get very far.

I eventually managed to get this escalated internally to a higher level engineer and I was asked to examine which band the router was connecting on via 4G, it was connecting via Band 1.

I then was asked to download an LTE analysis tool and found my phone was connecting on band 3. This can be found under "Advanced>Status>" and it's shown under Band.

I'm waiting on hearing back from support but they are talking of giving me a Beta Firmware which will allow me to manually select bands to see if we can remedy the speed issue like this.

Is this a common issue people are experinecing with the MR600? I bought it pretty much soley on the promise of increased speed due to carrier aggrgation and I'm pretty peeved this has been such an uphill battle and hours of me contacting their technical support to get them to recognise the issue.

@The_Leviathan

I'm having similar problems with my router using the same firmware level. Speed is fine when it works, getting around 85 down and 25 up, which is ok to me. But I have intermittent drop outs during the day. It usually recovers after some time, which varies a lot. But then I experience a total lockout every 24 hour, give or take. When this happens a reboot is the only way to cure it. And it always happens while watching something good on TV 😆 I wish there was some trace or debugging facility in the router that could help discover the reason for this. I like the router but this is very, very irritating. I contacted support here in Spain but after receiving the answer to one question they had they didn't respond any further. Please keep this thread updated on any changes and I will do the same.

@HotVsWarm I have frequent short disconnects ever since my MR200 broke and I got a MR600. over 100 times a day.

It reconnects by it self but looses connection, and signal bars are anything between 0-3 even tough I got a really good antenna on the roof.

When I have internet connection and test the speed it always stable at the same speed so the signal seem to be ok.

the MR200 worked without any problems for three years.

I'm in contact with the support but no solution in sight so far. I regret buying the crap.

@The_Leviathan

After having this exact problem and scrolling past many frustratingly similar comments... I've followed the consensus and have ordered a replacement router from a different manufacturer! But while I'm waiting for that to arrive I came across a "fix" which seems to have stopped this issue for me.

It came from this thread - https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/176312?page=12 - "Enabling IGMP Snooping in the Advanced tab under Network/LAN Settings seems to have solved the issue". I have done this and it does seem to have stopped the constant dropping of connection.

Another "fix" that was suggested was to Turn off the "smart connect" (I haven't done this and mined is behaving so maybe try the above first).

I hope this helps.

Yes it (IGMP) works! Thank you.
