AX21 vs. AX20
AX21 vs. AX20
Hi,
I've noticed there is a new version of WiFi 6 router AX21 with same specs as AX20.
What is the actual difference between these two models?
Best,
Luca

Hi,
My first post!
I googled "tplink ax20 vs ax21", I picked a TP-Link page that was listed, and it compared the two side by side. The only difference I could see was under Test Data - WiFi Transmission Power. The Ax20 was "<30dBm(2.4 GHz & 5.15 GHz~5.825 " and the Ax21 was "<20dBm(2.4 GHz)
<23dBm(5.15 GHz~5.25 GHz)", which is a significant difference.

That must have been a bug in the particular regional TP-Link webpage you visited.
In general, TP-Link routers that are marked with "(US)" on the router label are set up for the transmission power limits under FCC regulations and TP-Link routers that are marked with "(EU)" on the router label are set up for the transmission power limits as per CE regulations. (there may be additional region tags around, like "JP" for Japan or "CA" for Canada)
So, an AX20 and an AX21 marked with "EU" on the label would both be rated <20dBm(2.4 GHz), <23dBm(5.15 GHz~5.25 GHz).
Apparently, in some less regulated markets around the world both versions of certain router models have showed up for sale.

My apologies. I didn't provide enough detail. Here's the cut and pasted results (none appeared for the CE AX20), which agree with what you say:
AX20:
<30dBm(2.4 GHz & 5.15 GHz~5.825 GHz)
<20dBm(2.4 GHz)
<23dBm(5.15 GHz~5.25 GHz)
FCC:
<30dBm(2.4 GHz & 5.15 GHz~5.825 GHz)
I'm in Canada so I assume the FCC numbers would apply. Pity because I could use the extra 10 dBm in the CE AX21. My equivalent router is in a window but I can't quite reach the river where I frequently need to connect to our WiFi irrigation controller. Installing an outdoor antenna is far more work than swapping routers.
