Model: Archer AX50

Hardware Version: V1

Firmware Version: 1.0.9 Build 20200708 rel.55037(4555)

Internet connection type (WAN): Dynamic IP

I also have problem with internet connectivity.

I already changed the DNS settings of the router (WAN) to CloudFare's but still, if the internet connection is lost for any reason the router cannot rebuild the internet connection.

(The reason can be anything: power outage, Vodafone seem to do some kind of remote reset each early morning or when I myself switch the cable modem on and off)

The internet led stays orange. On the status screen, in the internet section, all data is filled in (MAC address, IP, Subnet mask, DNS servers) except the default gateway which has the value 0.0.0.0 To resolve the problem manually, I can either release and renew the internet configuration or switch off and on the router (while the cable modem is online)

My ISP is Vodafone, we are on a 1000 Mbit/s cable connection right now.

My cable modem model name is TG3442DE and I am using it in bridge mode.

I am attaching a log file that shows what is happening when the router is on and I just switched the cable modem on.

There are two cables plugged in the cable modem: one is for the router (into socket marked LAN1), the other is for the TV set top box (LAN2)

Any idea or solution is welcome! :-)

Thanks,

Tamas Vandorffy

@Tamas71

Hi Tamas, thanks for the detailed problem description. Just wondering, have you got a chance to test the TG3442DE stability? You can connect it to a computer with an Ethernet cable to that LAN 1 port on the TG3442DE modem, monitor the connectivity for some time, ensure that the connection is pretty stable, and can always access the internet.

If this is stable, try to do MAC clone on the AX50 as follows:

@Atakan2000

Hi, the issue you're experiencing is different from others on this thread, it's suggested to start a new thread, we can discuss it there.

@cheesehead

Hi, it's also suggested to connect a computer to the Xfinity modem with an Ethernet cable to monitor the connectivity for some time, ensure that the connection is pretty stable, and can always access the internet.

@Tamas71

Hi, I'd like to recall my findings about the AX50, I've been Reading on this same site.

This modem has an (to me) insane algorithm to check the connection quality, by Means of continuos queries to your configured DNS servers.

Since the DNS protocol itself dictates the server should Always reply in less than 2 seconds, Mean reply time could serve as a connection quality measure.

So using Google or CloudFlare DNS in the AX50 connection settings (and not on your PC!) usually solves any issue, since provider's servers are usually barely viable, thus falling short under pressure!
