Model: Archer AX10
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I would like to know why I'm limited in the selection of the 5ghz band channel. In my area there are about 80 access points competing over channel 36 - 48 (about 20 each) while anything above that has about 2 - 4 access points each.

I've read there are some regulatory issue's, is there any change, more bands could be made available in the future? And is this only an issue for TP-Link Routers, because the crappy standard one my ISP provided supports channel 36 -112? This seems a bit absurd for a router that claims to be "Future-Proof" and "Next-Gen"

Hello, sorry that this Archer AX10 EU version only supports band 1 (36~48) for the 5GHz, which is designed to comply with that of CE regulation. I think that is why you see others are on these channels.

@Kevin_Z

Hi Kevin,

have you ever heard from DFS ?

Dynamic Frequency Selection

You should implement this in your routers and the higher frequencies can be available.

Have a nice day .

Hi, thank you very much for your kind reminding.

The AX10 EU currently doesn't support the DFS channels, while we have noted this and will feedback to the related department.

Good days.

Hello,

the decision which model to choose is important and has to be made very carefully.

Look at this comparison. If you are residing in highly congested area and need an extra channels in 5GHz band (DFS feature) you should have chosen the AX50 model.

While AX10 is an entry level device (for the AX line of devices) it is unlikely that TP-Link would add this feature in the FW (lets make an educated guess) due to a HW limitations.

@terziyski

Appears to be just lazy programming, there are allot of topics complaining about new firmwares restricting 5 ghz to just the UNI 1 band, while previously supporting more.

Recently bought some EAP-660HD aps which hardly seem entry AX to me. There was some information stating that there would be a firmware release in q2 2021 for more 5ghz support. As you can see this message has been written in q3. The only available firmware is the initial one from a year ago. Unacceptable for an ap marketed for high density area's 5ghz is now just as congested as the "hell" 2.4ghz is.

Was considering the omada eco system for some small business networks (about 30 aps) but this is a hard pass for me, and tp-link has to do some real work before I'll consider it professionally again.

Seeing the lazy response from an associate from tp-link above, I think my cynical attitude is quite well grounded.
