Wrong username/password trying to access USB HDD connected to Router
I have an external HDD connected to my Archer C7 router through its USB port. I can only access it if I have "Enable Authentication" disabled. Then, I can access it through Win+R → \\TP-Share\. However, having no password is not an option, since my network is shared with other people.
When I enable "Enable Authentication", I get a login window and I get a message saying my username or password is invalid. See the image bellow:
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Similar problem for me, with Archer A7 v5.0
Previous firmware worked as expected using FTP (public or password). Upgraded to latest firmware and the whole USB authentication system failed. Rolled back to previous and all ok again.
What I find strange is that none of the fixes in the latest firmware release notes would appear to be related to the USB, unless it falls under "enhance device security".
Cheers.

Thanks Kevin.
Out of interest, roughly how long will it be before the beta becomes a mainstream release?

This fix should be included in the next official version, while we cannot provide you an ETA, we hope you could patiently wait, thanks.

Tried the beta, but during install it comes up with "invalid file type".
Is the beta only for the Archer C7? I have the A7.

Nope, the firmware for the C7 is not allowed to be uploaded into the A7, you may try this one:

Sorry Kevin,
that link doesn't work. Compared to the earlier C7 link it appears that there may be some text missing before the beta.zip bit.
Cheers
