Hello.

 

Could someone confirm if OneMesh is functioning with NAT disabled (unchecked option "Enable NAT" in Network>Internet section)?

That's a good question and IMHO it should, since NAT shouldn't have anything to do with OneMesh feature, but either someone should test that in a real environment or TP-Link official confirms that.

Hi, agree with Ivaylo that disabling the NAT on the AX10 should not affect the Onemesh function, while I'm curious why do you want to disable the NAT on the AX10?

 

BTW, AX10 doesn't support Onemesh yet, you may wait for the new firmware.

Thanks for the replies.

 

I am aware that OneMesh is still being worked on for AX10 (and eagerly awaiting it for some time already).

Anyway, in my scenario I have a central router/firewall on which I would like to manage the access of home network clients (computers, phones, guest devices, home appliances, etc.). I can't to that for the portion of the network behind AX10, if NAT remains active (AX10 will be representing all the clients behind it, therefore disallowing the management of those clients).

 

Knowing that OneMesh in no way depends on NAT helps. Now I can start investigating how such scenario would work at all (how to make sure the routing works properly, which static routes should be set up and where, etc.).

You can try using AX10 as an AP in this scenario with OneMesh. NAT won't be an issue in this case.

That would be a perfect solution if OneMesh worked in access point mode. With OneMesh limited only to the router mode, I can only try to achieve what I need by turning off the NAT completely.

Exactly. That's why I suggested this scenario - in that case the device is in router mode and OneMesh should be usable.

Would you happen to know of some article on how to configure clients/router in scenario where NAT is switched off (or at least an explanation how network devices are "behaving" in that case)?
