Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi,

How can I get the m7200 to support WPA2(AES)?

My car will only connect secure networks. If I can't is there another midi/hotspot that supports WPA2(AES)?

Many thanks

T

@Tod

See modification and bug fixes for your device here.

'1. Set AES as the default WiFi encryption".

If you haven't just update to the latest FW revision.

@Ivaylo I have done this but it still shows on my car that it's unsecure...

Are you sure that's the latest FW ? On your car still shows the encryption as WPA-PSK TKIP. If it's the latest FW, try to reset the device and reconfigure.

@Tod @Kevin_Z

Have you tried to delete the saved wireless network T-Network-Car and add it again ?

I've meant to delete the T-Network-Car saved network from your car and then search and add it again to see if any difference.

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

@Tod

Please try Ivaylo's suggestions to remove the wireless profile on the Car, or you can create a new SSID on the M7200, then confirm again.

BTW, do you have any iOS 14 device? If yes, you may test the M7200 network on the iOS 14 as well, check if it also displays as weak security with TKIP. If not, that means the settings on the M7200 is actually WPA/WPA2-PSK AES, but not TKIP.

I have done all of the above... and just tried with iOS... i think the issue is that TP-Link option only has the option to jointly select the security, rather than say "only" WPA2-PSK AES with this being a joint option only the device (and the iOS14) think it is able to use TKIP so says it si an unsafe network... and for my car it blocks it from use. (for my apple i can still use but it tells me it is an unsecured network). so any other 4G mifi options where i can select dedicated "WPA2-PSK AES" mode?

@Tod

Have you resolved your problem ?

If you can get for a test M7200 v3 or M7000 v1/v2, that would be the best approach.
