Hello.

I just bought M7650 last week. For the first few days, everything seems to be working fine. The device has been really smooth and I love it.

Recently, whenever I woke up from bed or went to make myself a cup of coffee (3-5 minutes). Upon returning to my desk, the display screen isn't showing anything after pressing the menu or power button once (waking it up). It was only showing an empty screen with its backlight turned on. The backlight will turn off automatically a few seconds later. I had to reboot my device in order to see my menu again. The device is still working as usual, the internet is still connected. Nothing is wrong with the connection. The only issue is with the empty LCD display screen upon "waking up".

I tried to update the firmware from the cloud, it says: Server error, please try again later.

I have also tried resetting the device twice and the problem is still there.

I'm pretty sure this is a software related problem because the hardware seems to be fine.

Here's my recent debug log:

@sudoranger

Thank you for posting on the TP-Link Community.

If you failed to upgrade the modem firmware via the cloud, please download the latest firmware from the local website, then upgrade it manually, then check again if the issue persists:

If possible, we hope you could help take a short video showing what is the issue you are actually encountering with the display, then we will check it, thank you.

Dear @Kevin_Z

I have successfully updated my firmware using the local server method:

Firmware Version: 1.1.8 Build 201110 Rel.1026n

Unfortunately, I'm still having this issue (empty backlight lcd screen when pressing menu/power button).

Here's a video of the problem:

@sudoranger

Thank you very much for the video.

Can we confirm if there was anything special happened on the M7650 before it started to behaving like this?

If there was nothing special, I'm afraid we have no more suggestions but recommend you to contact the reseller or local tech support again to replace it, as it seems to be a hardware issue.

@Kevin_Z

Thanks, I already sent it back to the retailer for them to claim the warranty. After I flashed the most recent firmware, the LCD froze and shown a weird looking screen tearing.

@Kevin_Z

I have an M7350, bought a few weeks ago.  Have the same problem, device screen just went GRAY - stay gray all the time since it 1st happened a week ago.  The Device works fine, but now I CANNOT SEE THE MENU.  Tried updating the Firmware - says it is the latest.  Tried resetting to default settings - didnt help either.

Has the problem been analysed and a solution been found yet?
