@HansF

Do you mean the AX20 connected to the AX6000 via Ethernet cable, and you want to build an Onemesh network via UTP? I'm afraid this is not supported, the OneMesh™ products can’t support the Ethernet backhaul. We currently only have Deco supports Ethernet backhaul.

Hello, I just replied to HansF that the Onemesh device doesn't support Ethernet backhaul, they can only build up the Onemesh network via Wi-Fi.

If you need the Ethernet backhaul, we currently only have Deco device can meet your requirement.

Thanks for reaction, not the answer i hoped for.

Wifi signal from the ax6000 is far from perfect and to weak at the basement to use a repeater.

Time to look elswere then.

@Kevin_Z - Thanks for providing the firmware. Just installed it and it works nice so far. I have RE305. Tested with intel's AX201 2x2 card on the client side.

It is clear that RE305 struggles to get the same kind of speeds as the AX6000, but the OneMesh feature is great to have.

ISP connection 250 Mbps

Transfers AX6000 - ca. 250-300 Mbps

Transfers RE305 - ca. 110-150 Mbps

I'll probably exchange my RE305 to something better, but I'm very happy about the OneMesh.

It took me a while to get this to work correctly, though. After some trial and errors, this is the best way to get it to work best:

1. Turn on OneMesh on AX6000

2. Go to RE305, start with the quick set-up.

3. Connect to both 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz bands (RE305 -> AX6000).

4. Turn off high-speed mode

5. Turn on OneMesh on RE305.

Which range extender would you recommend instead of my older RE305?

Thanks!

@M____

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/range-extender/re505x/

this should suit your needs - it's one of TP Link's WiFi 6 range extenders. Better than your current extender and also has the onemesh tech

@Kevin_Z

Hello,

I am French and thank you for the update

Here are my answers :

1) 1x RE505X v1.0 (1.0.9 Build 20201013 Rel. 184524)

    1x AX6000 v1.0 (1.2.0 Build 20201222 rel.23793)

2) 80m2 apartment, same floor

3) onemesh works very well and works straight away

My wifi network is working a lot than before

2.4Ghz and 5Ghz is ok

AX6000 wifi configuration :

- OFDMA is ON

- Smart connect is ON

- no special characters used in the network name and password.
I had already noticed before that this could be a problem in the connection

@Kevin_Z  Hi, I'm in Brazil and I updated the Archer AX6000. My range extender is the RE505X. I am trying several problems with the connection between these devices. If I enable the smart connection, the RE505x cannot connect to the AX6000 in the 5GHz band. To work I had to turn off the smart connection and put the AX6000 to work on channel 36 (5GHz). Even so, the connection is unstable. I have the Onemesh option enabled. In the previous version, which did not have Onemesh, the entire system was perfectly fine.

Archer AX6000 V1.0
Firmware: 1.2.0 Build 20201222 rel.23793(5553)

RE505X v1.0
Firmware: 1.0.9 Build 20201013 Rel. 184524(6985)

Does this firmware fix any known issues other than enable OneMesh?

@Kevin_Z

I've changed the range extender to RE605x, and the OneMesh does not work very well. The issue is the stability of the connection - when the RE605x is connected to the AX6000 in onemesh mode, the connection is of very poor quality: ping of 27ms, transfer max 60 Mbps. The measurement was taken ca. 3 meters from the RE605 and ca. 12-13 meters from AX6000 (different floor and ca. 2 walls between).

When I measured the signal strength, (using wifiinfoview), the RSSI was -62 for RE605 compared to -90 for AX6000 (for the same spot).

When I moved and the client changed the connection to AX, the ping changed to 4 ms and transfer went up to ca. 250 Mbps. I moved ca. 10 meters from the router and ca. 20 meters from the RE605.

When I connect RE605x without the OneMesh feature, using high speed mode (2.4 Ghz to AX and 5Ghz to clients), then the connection gets much better. Ping of ca. 4-7ms and transfers of ca. 180-220 Mbps to the internet (WAN connection of 250Mbps). The RSSI signal strength are the same for both.

I hope this helps you and the development team to test more. Let me know if you would like more test results or perform more testing.

Is it possible to use high-speed mode like the above in OneMesh?

Best
