I have an AX11000 router with a RE315 and RE605X in a mesh configuration using SmartConnect.   It's working well.   Two things I've noticed.

If I have my AX11000 in WPA2/WPA3 mode it seems to cause my Mobile WPA3 client devices to not connect when they transfer from the AX11000 to one of the RE devices. I have to turn off/on wifi on the client to get it to connect properly.   It works fine when I set the AX11000 to support WPA2 only.    I'm assuming this is because the RE devices don't support WPA3, but I thought the client devices would fall back to WPA2 automatically when connecting to the RE devices.

Also, while using OneMesh is there anyway to get one of my RE devices to connect to the AX11000 on the lower 5 GHZ band, and the other RE device to connect on the upper 5GHZ band of the AX11000?    By default both connect to the lower 5GHZ band and that upper band doesn't get any utilization.

Thanks in advance.

For the first issue you mentioned that the device cannot connect to the RE network automatically when moving from the AX11000 to the RE network, may we know what is the brand and model of it? It will roam correctly when changing the security on the AX11000 to WPA/WPA2-PSK, how about the version and encryption, are both Auto? As you know, the WPA3 is the next generation of Wi-Fi security of WPA2, it's new, and it is not widely implemented on all devices yet, manufacturers for both routers and phones may be involved in different developing stages, so you may encounter some issues. However, don't worry about this, the developers are working on it to improve and optimize the WPA3 working mechanism.

For your other concern that if we can choose the two RE to connect to different frequencies on the router, I'm afraid not. It only opens the 5G-1 for Onemesh connection, and 5G-2 is used for the other clients.

@Kevin_Z   Thank you for the reply.    The AX11000 and the RE's work fine when I have the security on AX11000 set to WPA/WPA2-Personal, the version set to WPA2-PSK and the encryption set to AES.

I experienced problems when I had the AX11000 configured to WPA2/WPA3-Personal and the version was set to auto.   The client devices that I experienced the problem on are two different but same model Samsung Galaxy s9+ phones.   WPA2 security is working for me now, I just wanted to pass along I was experiencing the problem with WPA3.

Firstly, the Deco X20 can work with the AX11000 without an issue, below are some typical network layouts that you can refer to:

General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature on your Deco

While it will not join the Onemesh network, since Deco mesh and Onemesh are totally different technologies used on different TP-Link products, so they are not compatible. You can check these QAs in this article:

Several questions about the OneMesh™ and Mesh

If you ask, we would suggest you buy a Onemesh range extender instead of a Deco X20 for the Onemesh system, or you can rebuild the mesh system with Deco mesh, which is better than mixing them up.

@Kevin_Z

Thanks for your help.

If i buy a TP-Link OneMesh RE605X can I connect that to the Archer AX11000 using the ethernet port on the RE605X?

Nope, RE605X can only join the Onemesh network via wireless, this is also mentioned in the article that I shared with you:

Thanks was checking that I understood what "backhaul" meant.

Are there any devices that can create a onemesh network with AX11000 and connect via ethernet.

The need is to get service where I have an ethernet connection but is too distant from the AX11000 for a reasonable signal.
