The router works perfectly until i disabled WMM. I restarted, turned wifi off, turn wifi on, reset and it's not worked, had to hard reset it to make it work again.

I repeated that 4-5 times and nothing i can do to turn WMM off. firmware is latest (201112 EU version) but haven't tried 210408 because can't find eu version.

what to do to turn wmm off?

Hello @Belthazor and anyone else who may report similar issues, please check my reply as follows:

WMM function can guarantee the packets with high-priority messages being transmitted preferentially. Remember that WMM is a subset of the IEEE 802.11e standard, which means you will get the link speed of 54 Mbps when it is disabled. It is strongly recommended to enable this function.

If you experience a slow speed issue and that's the reason why you disable the WMM, please check and confirm if the QoS is configured correctly as per this guide first, then report back if the speed is still slow:

How to turn off the QoS feature on TP-Link Router?

@Joohyun

Can we confirm where did you get this 201112 version? What is the region version of the AX73, is it US or EU?

Where did you purchase it?

Why do you need to disable the WMM on the router? After you disabled it and tried to connect to the network, was there any error message? You can try to forget the network on the phone or laptop, then reconnect to check.

@Kevin_Z

I get it from https://www.tp-link.com/jp/support/download/archer-ax73/#Firmware. The router is EU version 1.0 bought in Thailand.

Sometimes i found webpages stop loading so i tried to find a way. Youtube and Facebook works perfectly but others is a bit unstable.

After disable WMM, i can't connect to wifi from any devices(pc, android, tv), they can't connect and no error was found.When i tried to connect, it's switched back to before click connect on wifi immediately, no progression or loading like when connecting to normal wifi. Wifi signal is still great though, but can't connect at all(not no internet problem).

@Joohyun

I heard WMM is like QoS and sometimes prioritizes media so i want to disable it to compare between WMM on and WMM off.

@Joohyun

If only some webpages cannot be loaded, we don't suggest you disable the WMM.

Can we confirm who is your ISP? Is it possible to connect a computer directly to the ISP modem, then check those webpages, can you load those webpages properly and stably?

You can try to change the Internet DNS servers on the AX73 to something like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, then reboot the router to confirm.

@Joohyun @Kevin_Z

even i faced this issue, asap WMM is disabled, all devices connected to wifi got disconnected and were not able to reconnect. i even tried to remove credential from android device & rejoin wifi, but it didnt connect. but asap WMM was turned on all of them got connected without issues

many bugs are there on AX73 which is not allowing to enable \ disable features.

@Joohyun this is an old thread I know. I have an actual need to disable WMM (it deprioritizes some small data using devices which I cannot have deprioritized). Disabled this tonight and many different devices were then unable to connect at all.

This shouldn't happen. All that should happen is prioritization of traffic changes. Instead it appears that certain types and brands of devices can no longer connect at all...

I'm also having this exact same issue. I had some traffic being de-prioritised, so I'm wanting to turn WMM off, even just to see if that helps. But when I turn WMM off (no other changes) my mobile phone cannot reconnect to the wifi network, even after I remove the network from my phone and add it back in. Turning WMM back on and my phone can reconnect, but still has the traffic priority issue.

Surely this is a problem worthy of being investigated by the engineers?

  @JamieG had the same issue hence had to turn it back on. No other solution I could find.

  @Joohyun Same here. Enable qos make a huge speed drop so I want to turn off wmm as well but as soon as I turn it off I can't connect to wifi but when I turn it on everything work fine again.
