I am planning to buy TL-WR842ND as a print server with my printer HP Laserjet pro P1102 http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/my/en/sm/WF06b/18972-18972-3328059-3328066-3328066-4110394-4110395.html?dnr=1

the compatibility list shows HP Laserjet 1100 and HP Laserjet 1100A as compatible models but does not make mention of P1102

Has anyone tried using the HP Laserjet P1102 with TL-WR842ND?

HP Laserjet 1100 and HP Laserjet 1100A as compatible models but does not make mention of P1102

HP 1102 is a different model than 1100A, good solution for this is open-wrt (gargoyle) on router.

well, I contacted Tp-Link support and they also said most probably P1102 won't work with 842ND as it is not in the compatibility list, but I may do a trial to see if it works.

Anyways, I proceeded with the purchase and happy to tell that my HP Laserjet Pro P1102 (model CE651A) http://www8.hp.com/sg/en/products/printers/product-detail.html?oid=4110395
works great with TL-WR842ND multi-function router. My configuration was as follows:-
a. Windows 7 64-bits
b. Firmware upgraded to latest version (130110)
c. Latest version of USB Printer Controller Utility downloaded from Tp-Link website

there was a lil problem that I encountered. I would like to share it for benefit of others

The installation on my laptop went without any issue (Win 7, 64-bits Avast Free Antivirus)
When I tried installing on my Desktop PC, the installation went fine but the USB Printer Controller was unable to locate the printer... i reinstalled the printer drivers as well as the Print server configuration utility but to no avail... I noticed that a device named "Kernel USB Software Bus by TCP" under Devices and Printers (Control Panel) was missing while it was there in my laptop. I also noticed that everytime I tried to connect, the AVG antivirus would warn me that Printer utility is trying to connect to internet.... So I concluded that the AVG is messing up something.... instead of trying to add some exception rule, I un-installed the AVG and installed Avest...and everything worked fine :)

There is no mention of this Kernel device in the Tp-Link documentation. I think they should include some warning about anti-virus and the Kernel USB software bus by TCP

Facing Similar issue with TP-Link w8968 ADSL Wireless router
2013-12-06 04:34:23
Hi, i have recently bought Tp-link w8968 ADSL router. It has a USB port for printer sharing and file sharing. I have a printer which i want to connect with my network. Printer is HP Laserjet Professional P1102(Non-wireless). When i plug the printer into the router, the Tplink Usb controller shows that this printer is connected but after 5-8 seconds printer disappear from the list. I have multiple attempts to overcome this issue but till now i am not able to find any solution for it. Please help to get out of this problem. I really like this printer thats why i am keen to install it on my network. Thanks in advance.

The compatible list of the ADSL router: http://www.tp-link.com/common/compatible/print-server/ but I don't know wether your printer is in this list.
