Note: This data card is working fine with my laptop without any issue.
I have tried all the options (Including Auto) available for reliance providing required authentication details.
It is detecting the data card and then tries to connect but not connecting.
Referred forum as well on tp-link but I did not get a proper guide to deal with this kind of situations.

Steps I used to setup the TL-3040
( 1) Quick Setup - 3G/4G:
(i) Location: India
(ii) ISP: Reliance Netconnect (Default Dial Number: "#777" APN: "")
(iii) Authentication Type: Auto
(iv) Set the Dial Number, APN, Username and Password manually: Checked
(v) Dial Number: #777
(vi) APN: Blank
(vii) Username: Datacard Mobile Number same as using for laptop
(viii) Password: Datacard Mobile Number same as using for laptop

Resolved after upgrading the firmware

The incompatibility issue of TL-MR3040 with ZTE-AC2736 has been resolved after upgrading the TL-MR3040 firmware to the latest version.

Mr Durgesh from TP-LINK support was the life saver for me. While replying to my mail, he also has sent one firmware bin file with instructions. I upgraded the router FW and now MR3040 is able to detect and connect to the internet.

Note that I am not able to upload the firmware as an attachment here due to restrictions. Please download the same here for TL-MR3040.

It seems your ZTE AC2736 is identified by the router. For some reasons, the router can not pass through the authentication process. From the system log, i also found "3G Modem connecting error, please check the dial number and APN", so i strongly advice you to confirm the dial number and APN with Reliance; besides, double check the username and password. Then manually enter all those parameters onto the router.

Hi Matthew,
There is no issues/problems with Dial number, Password/Username and APN as the same does work on laptop.
Firmware "3.14.4 Build 121017 Rel.62268n" is the culprit. I had to update it to the latest version (mr3040v2_en_3_15_2_up(130328)) to resolve it. Thanks for Dhurgesh (TP-LINK Support person) who has sent updated FW.
