Model: Archer MR200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I'll start by saying I have very limit knowledge, so please accept my apologies if I'm way off with anything.

We were advised to buy this router (we will be using with the 4G sim LTE connection at a small holiday home) at this home we have a device that needs port 44158 opened on inbound and outbound, due to CGNAT we are unable to do this.

We purchased a VPN from Privatevpn where they have a dedicated IP with the ports we need opened. I can't for love nor money work out what I need to do to get this working on the router or if it is even possible.

We were then advised to purchse https://www.amazon.co.uk/GL-iNet-GL-MT300N-V2-Converter-Pre-installed-Performance/dp/B073TSK26W/ref=asc_df_B073TSK26W/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310847932305&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7475663517344691674&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006565&hvtargid=pla-491876105460&psc=1

As we can connect the VPN to the above device that would access the VPN we purchsed. Is there a simpler way just to have the port forwarding we need?

Many Thanks,

L

@Loobc

The simpler way is to contact your ISP and ask them to open these ports for you through the CG-NAT (if possible).

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

To overcome the difficulties of CG-NAT port-forwarding the PCP has been standartized, but your carrier can refuse your request.

In that case unfortunatelly, you don't have any other option except using the VPN service you subscribed for or changing the ISP.

You should ask PrivteVPN about that. They may have customers with TP-LInk devices like MR200.

Here are some guides on configuring routers supporting OpenVPN (like MR200) - https://privatevpn.com/support/getting-started/routers/

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

OK, I misled you - MR200 supports OpenVPN Server, but not an OpenVPN client, which you'll need.

Check this guide - https://privatevpn.com/support/getting-started/routers/asus-rt-models/openvpn

It's for Asus device, but it's pretty much the same for a TP-Link router with an OpenVPN client.

Since MR200 has an operation mode - wireless router - if you're keen to use MR200, your only option is to change the ISP (if possible).
