Model: Archer C24
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.3 Build 201022 Rel.55840n(5553)

Open up a brand new C24.  Without any changes of settings, I can connect to 2.4GHz WiFi but not the 5GHz WiFi.  The _5G SSID Doesn't show up most of the time.  When it shows up, it says 'unable to join' after putting in password.  Happen to multiple phones and laptops.

Contact support and the advice is not to use auto channel.  Specify any one of the low channels (36-48).  Only then it works.

I also found that specify any of the high channels (149-165) will stop it from working.  Not quite happy with the solution as I would expect the router supposedly choose a channel that is less likely clash with my neighbours.  Should it be considered a bug that could be fixed in the future?

  @NBAus

Hi,

have your phones and laptops been able to properly connect to SSIDs of other routers that are broadcasting on channels 149-165?

Not all countries permit the use of channels 149-165, especially all countries that follow the European regulations. (well, to be precise, these frequencies can actually be used in Europe, but the allowed transmit power is so extremely low that no router manufacturer has yet bothered to implement them)
