Spent some time with my Archer AC1200, but it doesn't seem to match the manuals.
For instance, the manual mentions Advanced>System Tools>Firmware upgrade while this page seems to be absent in my router.
Also, it doesn't seem to be possible to use this as wireless bridge.
Did I just buy a dumbed down version?

Hi,
Can you tell if your "AC1200" router is a regular retail version? (i.e. did it come in a colorful box or just in a white or brown box?)
TP-Link has made quite a few AC1200-grade routers. Can you confirm if the exact model number of the router is "AC1200" or maybe A5, A6, C6, C50, C64, C1200, etc?

This hardware came in a colourful blue box printed "AC1200 Wireless, Dual Band Gigabit Router, Archer C1200". A label with bar codes says "Model: Archer C1200 (EU) Ver 2.0" followed by a part number. That's it.

Ok.
It seems that the Archer C1200 V2 does indeed not have a wireless bridge feature. There is no mention of such feature, neither in its official datasheet nor in its user manual.

I don't know why the Firmware Upgrade page is missing, though.
Are the other entries in the "System Tools" menu all there, like "Time Settings", "System Diagnostics", "Administration", etc.?

The webshop where I bought it does provide a data sheet which claims it supports WDS. Looks like someone tries to make easy money, so this crap goes back to where it came from.

The wireless routers that support either WDS or Range Extender mode (including the gigabit Archer C64, AX6000, AX11000) are in this list.

@terziyski Anything labeled Archer can *not* be used as wireless bridge, as it needs to be connected to the modem through ethernet. The others you mention either run the dated wifi n, or are travel routers, which have more than likely poor range.

Wireless routers labeled Archer (first half of the list mentioned) are dual band routers which can be configured as Range Extenders or build a WDS with either 2.4GHz or 5 GHz band.
For these that support WDS here's the guide for configuring.

For these that support Range Extender mode (like Archer C54):
In both cases (WDS or RE) the connection to the main wireless modem/router is wireless.

For Archer C54 take a look at its user guide - Chapter 2.2.2.
For Archer C6 v2 its user guide - Chapter 13.13.2 - it's the same for Arccher C64 (even if it's not mentioned in its user guide).
I presume you have an ISP (or your own) wireless modem/router to wich you'll connect wirelessly with the WDS or RE mode (depends on the model you select).
