Hi All,

 

I just got a router for my mum, but it has very old firmware also the code is in quite poor condition (it throws weird - unexpected - errors on the UI). Is this router essentially e-waste at this stage and am I naive to hope that TPLink won't be a garbage company, who won't release new firmware or provide the drivers to make a DD-WRT compatible one? 

Is that a general behaviour of this company? If so what's your justification to buy their products?

Hi,

 

If you've got the "EU" or "US" version of the C2300 V1, then there is a quite recent firmware update available for download. Judging by its Release Note it doesn't appear to solve many issues, but who knows?

It sounds to me like some lagged behind stock cause the current C2300 is HW v2.

  @MiklosMandics Just updated my router to 2.0.4 Build 20210705 Rel. 68265 through the router itself on April 29, 2022. Does anyone know what this firmware did?

Thanks @woozle ! I've updated the device successfully!

 

@terziyski yeah I've got this router as gift, I'm running mikrotik hap ac2 myself at home.

 

@skeeters not sure where they keep the changelog for the firmware, but you could leave a link here if you find it ;)
