Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 20220121 rel.75144(4555)

Hello,

I just bought a new AX73 EU router and I have some problems with it.

My internet is fiber optic 1Gps speed, the ONT is in bridge mode so I can use my own router. I have set up the new AX73 multiple times and reset it multiple times, but the problems is still there. The WiFi coverage is great, great stability with 20 devices connected to it, but the problem is, with my iPhone 13 pro and my MacBook m1 I get these speeds connected to the 5G WiFi network: download around 600-700 mbs and upload is limited to 230 mps no mather what settings I have. With my phone there is no problem, but I need more that 230mps upload on my MacBook. That is the reason I have bought this router. So far I have there result:

- on cable on my desktop I have 950mps down, 900mps upload

- on 2,5Ghz I get 120 mps up, 120 mps down

- on 5Ghz i get 600-700mps down, only 230mps up

- if I test it at the same time with multiple devices I still get 300-400mps down, but the upload speed goes below 100mps.

No QOS or other bandwidth limit is enabled.

Before AX73 I had a C7 V4 with around 300mps down and upload. Now the C7 v4 is setup in Acces Point mode on my back yard, and I still get more upload speed than AX73.

Is there a problem with the latest firmware, or do I need do do something different? I even tried DFS channels on 160Mhz with the same results.

Hello @shade89,

To better assist you, I would like to check the following details:

1. Are the iPhone 13 pro and MacBook M1 the only two devices that have the slow upload issue, or did you test these two only?

2. Please disable the QoS settings on the AX73 completely, or you may reset it and reconfigure it from scratch, only set up the basic internet connection on the router, test the speed to see if you can get a normal speed.

3. How far is the iPhone 13 Pro or MacBook M1 from the AX73 when you are performing the speed test? What if you move closer?

4. You can run a Wi-Fi analyzer to review the 5GHz channels or network around you, then choose one with less interference with others, reboot the router and reconnect to the network to see if the speed will be good.

@Kevin_Z sorry for slow reply time. I had work related stuff...

Thank you for your reply. This is what I have done:

1. reset it multiple times, basic internet setup, no QOS, still no change.

2. tested with multiple devices, 1 meter range, no change.

3. update firmware, no change.

4. only two 5ghz wifi networks in range.

After all this troubleshooting I did an iperf3 test between macbook conected to wifi and pc conected to lan. I got around 930mbs upload and download between macbook and pc in multiple tests. So the routher is capable of gigabit wifi but only in local wifi-lan? I still don't know why i dont get this internet speed over wifi, only on lan.

I got a firmware update, no luck, only the download speed got a little better over wifi 5GHZ: 850mps down, the upload jumps to around 700mps but swiftly slows to around 230mps.

@shade89

Thank you very much for getting back with the detailed info.

Can we have more detailed information about the 5G configuration on the AX73? Are you using some specific settings, such as a fixed channel?

To assist and figure it out efficiently, I've forwarded your case to the TP-Link support engineers who will contact you with your registered email address later. Please pay attention to your email box for follow-up.
