How to define the primary DNS for the extender when DHCP is not being used and a static IP is assigned? I cannot find DNS field suitable for that.

  @onlyoneme .

In your RE365 user guide - Chapter 3.4 is described how to define primary and secondary DNS if you need to.

If you use your main router to assign the IP addresses in your LAN (DHCP Server on Auto or OFF in RE365) then there's no need to set DNSs on the RE365 - devices will use your main router DNS.

I'm not talking about DHCP server on the repeater. I've meant a scenario when repeater will have it's management IP assigned manually. There is no DNS field available which makes online FW checks and tp-link cloud not working correctly.

In your case (static IP address in RE365 network settings) the RE365 itself should use your main router's DNS to resolve any URLs (including TP-Link cloud and FW checks).

Do you receive any particular error message when RE365 is configured that way ?

If that's the case try to make an Address Reservation on your main router for the RE365 IP address and set RE365 to obtain its IP address automatically, then test if the issue is gone.

The extender is unaware of any DNS servers when IP is assigned manually because there is no negotiation with DHCP server. The extender doesn't know how to translate any names to IPs because there is no way to tell him which DNS server should be used. There is no field to put that information in the setup.

Internet status is not shown as connected, online FW lookup doesn't work, tp-link ID cannot be used for cloud connection because the extender cannot find IPs it needs.

When connecting a device (mobile, computer , etc.) to the RE365 do you have Internet access at all ?

Follow this troubleshooting guide to resolve the problem.

If nothing helps so far to receive further help regarding your issue you may contact your local support.

I have no issues with internet connectivity on other devices. Only the extender itself has an issue I mentioned. I don't want to configure an additional DHCP server as my connected devices require more complex setup specified on different machine and they are working fine.

I've just installed beta FW

https://static.tp-link.com/beta/2021/202106/20210602/RE365v1_210529_Onemeshbeta.zip

which has the field provided for primary DNS in manual IP setup. That's fine. There is also no issue when connecting to the extender IP from another private network, which is not working with latest official FW.

Apart of that this FW is a mess unfortunately:

- MAC prefix for connected clients has changed, I had to redefine related leases on my DHCP server

- an option to select host network for ethernet port just disappeared

- there is no way to disable "High Speed mode". The extender mixes bands if 2 networks are extended.

Of course those issues above are not related to the issue I've mentioned before which has been solved in beta.
