VPN client on AX55 - slow performance
Hi all
I just bought this router to use the vpn function for my Xbox.
when using OpenVPN on the router and performing a speed test (via iPhone) I get about 10Mbps down. When I use the vpn app on my phone I get a lot greater.
is there any way to configure the router to get better throughput on vpn or do I need another router?
this router has a dual core and the AX20 has quad core so is that one better?
also considering sending this back and getting an ASUS RT-AX86U

I'm also having issues with the AX55 slow speed using ExpressVPN on the OpenVPN protocol.
Speed dropped to roughly 5mbps when not connected to VPN, was getting 70mbps when turned off.

Is anyone working to fix the problem with OpenVPN? I use ExpressVPN which does not support Wireguard and as most other people are saying drop significantly, from 200Mbps to 10Mbps. It would be nice to actually use the features the router has.

@Alpha_numbers I just bought an AX55 to use for VPN when I'm in Philippines. I read about all the OpenVPN issues, so I setup L2TP/IPSEC for use with default Windoze client. It works great! My internet at home is 600 down and up. My philippines internet is only 50 down and up, so the AX55 should be up to the job (I hope). It's about 85% of internet speed when connecting to it with my work phone as a hotspot. My belief is just don't use OpenVPN on the AX55. It supports other fast VPN types.

Hi,
Any progress?
Should we expect updates that will help with OpenVPN?
Or has anyone found a solution? Maybe third party firmware
