There is a need to backup all settings and registered devices, including their names and related device types, owners,...

When your main deco crashes or fails, your can import your setup in another or new device and all will work as before.

For the scenario when Main Deco fails, everything is backed in TP-Link cloud. Promote another Deco node to Main Deco and your Deco mesh will keep all its settings. See Changing the Main Unit for your Mesh Network

I do agree that it would be nice to have local backup, but not for this use case.
