ER605 to load balance two internet connections for performance and availability
Here's what I have:
Working for years ...
- Netgear cable modem connected to Comast internet
- Netgear R8500 wifi router connected to cable modem
- Subnet is 192.168.29
Recently installed
- T-Mobile Internet Gateway with wifi
- Subnet is 192.168.12
- Working perfectly
Recently purchased
- TP Link ER605 VPN Router
- Subnet is 192.168.0
I want to connect the cable modem and T-Mobile Gateway to the ER605 and then the ER605 to R8500, creating a load-balancing pair from the two ports. I want to continue to use the Netgear as my wifi and the same address range (192.168.29), with the single WAN input coming from the ER605.
My first iterations didnt work, and I suspect its a combination of subnetting and R8500 configuration (i.e. must it be a bridge? an access point?) I'm not a network tech, but I have an understanding of the concepts. Can anyone offer any advice?
