Hi Alexandre, my Deco XE75 is working great. Any idea how I can manually change the automatically assigned channel of 3 to either 1 or 11?

An online search revealed that this is not possible as the Deco uses it's own internal algos to automatically assign channels. Surely there has to be a manual over-ride facility somewhere.

There is no manual override. The only option is to run Network Optimization from Deco app and hope it'll choose different channel. It might, but no guarantee. If current channel is not considered congested by Deco mesh, it won't switch to a different one after running Network Optimization.

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of such an important configuration feature. I'll certainly try the Network Optimizer and hopefully it will work. Any idea where it is in the app?

From main screen open More in the right bottom corner, and you'll see Network Optimization in the list.

Hi not sure where you based but if your exchange policy is good. Then try it. I have had endless problems with the Xe75. For instance one of the ethernet port on the device just stopped working. 2nd the wifi range is poor in comparison to the x55. I actually disconnected my xe75 and using three x55 which is more stable and has better range. 3rd issue is that smart devices disconnect and reconnect more frequently with xe75. The last straw is when I woke up one morning and the Xe75 which was main deco was flashing red. I immediately disconnected it and gave up troubleshooting.

Lastly I have learnt the hard way that no matter how expensive the router, the wifi range is affected by many things which degrades it's signal. Expecially solid walls and concrete which is in my case despite the distance being a few metres away.

  @Mutch

You've made some very good points there Mutch. All the internal walls in my house are concrete so I resorted to hard-wiring some mesh modules to the master mesh module. My system is working fine but my music streaming glitches at times. This does not mean that it is the Deco XE75 Pro but it could be due to WiFi signal interference which may not be a constant due to the fact that the Deco system is automatically changing the channels. TP-Link should have had a manual over-ride option, they can still do it if they wanted to but choose not to. Disappointing for end users who spend hours trying to trobleshoot issues only to find out that controlls in the DECO are limited.

Any new tp-link Deco models that are now better and superior compared to the XE75 Pro in terms of:-

  1. Reliability
  2. Speed
  3. Ability to work in an environment with solid stone walls
  4. The facility to manually change channels unless the auto algorithms are much better.
  5. Smarter operatoon and more ethernet ports per module.

The extra or faster channel in WFi 6 or 7 is marketed as a backhaul facility but it is not useful at all for my environment.

Feel feel to highlight any other improvements.
