I have the two-unit W7200 set.  I would like to add a third unit.  What should I buy, and where?

All the Deco units work together so really you can mix whatever you feel appropiate.

If you are just after a single unit that is slightly better than your current one, then the X75 or X75Pro are available in single units and support Triband to get the maximum speed with your other Deco nodes.

Otherwise, any will work in theory, but I would recommend staying with the X, W or BE range to keep the speeds up.   The M and S range will work, but are slower WiFi.

Thanks! If I go with one of those 75's, should I put it at the top of the chain, and the W7200's downstream? Cheers, Bubba

No worries mate, anytime!

Personally, my thinking is keep the X75 / X75Pro to the client side or where most of your devices are going to be (down the chain more than likely).   Reasoning... its newer than the W7200 Deco and has the 6ghz frequency (WiFi6E as its known), this is starting to become more common in new phones, laptops etc so personally i would try and get the faster WiFi closer to the end devices.

Unless you are restricting your internet connection on the W7200, which is unlikely... then keep the X75 to the down chain.

Slainte.. (cheers here in Ireland).

p.p.p.s. "Unless you are restricting your internet connection on the W7200, which is unlikely..." Where might I be doing that? I don't see anything like that in the settings.

That would indeed do the job for you!   Its WiFi6E and Triband, perfect :)

Ah, meant this more as you had a fast internet connection and where therefore pushing the W7200 to the max 24/7, generally this would be internet speeds faster than 1gbps.

Ultimately the Deco is a wireless mesh, wireless simply isnt as fast as running a cable and therefore when you start having 1gb or faster internet connections this will push the Deco to the maximum.    This is due to the 5ghz used by the W7200 topping out around that speed (1gbps).   The 6E connection available to the X75 uses 6ghz, therefore can go faster still, however as said unless you are throwing really fast internet at the W7200, then its highly unlikely to be an issue.

Hmm, my Galaxy phone's little wifi icon shows a tiny 6, does that not mean it's getting a 6ghz connection to these 7200's?  I get over 500Mbps just on the wifi side.

But in any event, I'm on Starlink satellite internet here, so my actual speeds are topping out under 100Mbps regardless. We might get fiber someday up here on the mountain, but that's probably at least a couple of years off and might never happen at all.

Of greater concern for the time being is what with security cams and light switches and this that and the other, I have about 30 devices connected, and with a full house of visitors it might run closer to 40.

So with all that in mind, is that 75 unit still a good choice? Or will I be overspending on it?  I really just want better coverage on the third floor ... the thruput is otherwise adequate for now.  No gaming going on, so that is not a factor.

Thanks again, I really appreciate the help.

By the way, why the heck are there so many different Deco models anyway?
